Mick - you are a life saver. I only watched the bit specific to reattaching the counter balance spring or the “spring of death” as you rightly call it. Because I already had all of the under deck removed. I attached the spring the other way around and used the front of the more as a pivot point but otherwise followed as you had recommended. It worked like a charm and meant I could use the bolt and washer to tease the spring into place rather that risk a digit. If you are ever around Newquay, I’ll buy you a beer or 3. Incidentally, for anyone else contemplating replacing the left hand roller support bracket (part 410002), the replacements are significantly more substantial. The one I took off weighed 184 grams, the genuine replacement weighed 489!

Just a word to say Thankyou Mick. From your video I’ve managed to change both belts and the ally bracket that broke just like th done in your film. Good job sir!! Oil change, fuel filter and a new spark l’oligoélément and we’re ready for spring! Just one question. The spark plug looks a bit sooty suggesting it running a bit rich. Best way to make the mixture a bit more lean?

Hi Mick, this vid was very helpful especially the variator spring install....so thankyou. Just for some back ground on my mum's same machine...I have changed the roller, the top bracket (the one that always snaps), all the plastic covers and then found there was very little/no drive. I then replaced the variator (as a couple of the tiny springy plates had snapped off inside...other than that it seemed ok) and both belts, but still no drive. The roller goes around nicely when lifted but not when on the ground and the chain is ok. You can see that its engaging and trying but something is slipping I think. Can you offer any suggestions please? thanks Adam
@themowerman2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the gearbox mate ..
@adamharland77162 жыл бұрын
@@themowerman Thanks for the advice. I removed the gearbox and it seems to operate ok with the pully slipping until the clutch is operated. As you the pressure on the clutch by hand the gearbox grips the pulley more and more but I'm guessing it is slipping under motor power and the weight of the machine. The belts whilst brand new and correct, don't seem that tight btw. Just before I splash out on a new clutch cable (very slightly frayed) and gearbox, is there anything else I should try?....and if not, is it the clutch part of the gearbox that is at fault? Thank you in advance and do you take calls on this? Thanks Adam
@themowerman2 жыл бұрын
@@adamharland7716 sounds like the gearbox
@adamharland77162 жыл бұрын
I brought a new gearbox and fitted it but that didn't solve the problem. It was in fact the M16 washers either side of the roller that had worn too thin and causing the roller shaft locating pin to jump out of the slot in the roller, hence the poor/non drive
