Salam Alaykom. I recently met a Christian who faces Jerusalem (towards the holy Temple or the Mount of Olives*) when he prays. I believe some Orthodox Christians (like Ethiopian Orthodox) also face this direction, and from what I read it comes from the Tanakh like 1st Kings 8:29-30 or Zacharia 14:4, and also the NT in Acts 1:11. I think it's common for Orthodox Churches to face East, and so their worship faces this direction in a general sense, and some of these face Jerusalem based on these verses. Forgive me if I made any mistakes here, but it's very interesting to look into this.

in my country there are ex christian who revert to islam and became preacher/dawah on their youtube channel, they analyze the whole bible they very expert in the bible and torah they even have version of whole bible and torah in their homes and exposing to the Christians that so many contradictions on their book, they can bring evidence that jesus is not god etc and islam is the truth religion, and after that so many Christians became muslim.

The Jewish people even today pray towards Jerusalem, specifically towards the area of the former temple… When the prophet came Allah instructed us and him to pray towards Jerusalem as well before changing it to the Kaaba. A place built, dedicated for God by Adam and Abraham. The pagan Arabs had Abraham and Ismail’s teachings where they kept the Kaaba as a holy site. As time passed Amr Ibn Luhay came from the East with idols and that’s when the Arabs started worshipping idols and putting them around the holy site How does this attribute a partner to Allah, we don’t worship the Kaaba itself which has broken down many times and rebuilt with our own hands. Allah the creator decided this area is holy, so it is holy. Just like the area of the burning bush, just because it’s holy does it mean we worship it? That’s a illogical leap

Ibrahim a.s built the Kaaba along with Ismail a.s. Then he proclaimed for pilgrimage (which may have been different from the way Muslims do it now)and all the surrounding people (mostly arabs) did it. Gradually polytheism crept in and so they worshipped idols. So the Kaaba was a holy site and bcoz it was, they kept their so called holy idols in the vicinity. Israelites on the other hand had Jerusalem as a similar site. So when Muhammad (saw) came the test for his people was to leave the Kaaba (holy to his Arab people) and follow Jerusalem. Later Allah changed it to the Kaaba which remains to this day.
