As a husband, you take your wife’s inputs/suggestions into consideration, but still the man makes the final decision. Also, agreeing to your wife doesn’t make you equal, you’re just acknowledging the suggestion from your wife to be the best solution to the problem. Everything that happens in the family is because the man allows it. But that doesn’t mean the wife won’t have any input in any matter of problem. You can still talk things out, and try to solve a problem together, but a muslim family must acknowledge that the final decision is made by the husband.

She's saying a man cannot eat raw ingredients. Like Muhammad said as a joke there's Uber Eats, implying if you have money you can buy food already prepared or even cook it yourself. He does not need to eat raw ingredients meanwhile what's she gonna cook, dust off the floor? If a husband is married to an argumentative wife that wants to be in charge but provides nothing in the relationship, does not do housework and is not even a muslim woman, he can simply divorce her, save 50% of income, eat at the finest restaurants and still have money left.

I think it’s important to highlight that women and men can share opinions, collaborate and influence each other in the decision-making process. But the man will have final decision making authority if there’s a disagreement and the man will be held more accountable for the decision. Even between two people (romantic or not) there should be one who is the leader with the authority, responsibility and accountability for decisions. Islam does not say the man should be a dictator and should not consult with his wife or others. In most of the conversations regarding this issue of ‘authority’, the emphasis of collaboration and seeking advice from others gets lost.

i‘m a muslim woman and have muslim parents where my mom is the leader. To he honest.. it causes much trouble and fights.. My mom cant control herself when she gets emotional, so it always ends up with a big mess. If my Dad would control all the things, and tell my mom to just lay back and chill, it would be a million time better. I found a husband who is happy to take the leadership and m happy to have a husband where i can just be a girl and not think abt anything😭🙏🏻❣️ Literally i‘m okay with everything he says because we have the same interests and same world view (both muslim) so we always get along with eachother❤❤❤

The problem in this discussion is that she equates decision making and protector as a role of greater importance than the role of a wife. Islam does not distinguish between roles in such a way. That kind of mindset his how you get the idea of superiority of status and value. We say men and women have their roles and they are equal in value. Islam only recognises superiority in the sight of Allah based on piety.
