Time to move | Life on the canals | Solo Boat Life [Ep 118]

In this weeks video I cruise my Narrowboat down the Trent & Mersey Canal through Rugeley to stock up on supplies and then head towards Handsacre to go exploring a beautiful walk in the area. As there are no Canal Locks to navigate this week - Bonny my little rescue dog gets promoted to First Mate and takes her position on the boat roof for the first time.

You are not wrong about the summer! June - too hot and dry, had to water all the new planting and veggies every darn day. July/August cold and wet, wet, wet with lots of wind. Result = not many flowers, almost zero veg ripening and tons of bushy greenery everywhere! I must say though, that you and Melitza seem to co-exist in different weather zones even side by side. She's always in shorts and a t-shirt and you walk along with her in your jackets and body warmers 😂 Rugely looked very nice for an explore. How nice of you to pay a visit to the poor murdered woman's grave. There are good and bad people everywhere and always have been.

OMG when Bonnie put her paw on your arm whilst she was cruising on the roof......my heart melted ❤️ As a fellow dog mum, its a joy to watch you connecting with one another. I don't think my dog Molly will be as good on the roof when we take to the canals to CC- in 3 weeks time!!! I'm beyond excited. Heidi a great idea for your business! Make a cutòut of your Rum Wench logo in wood or plastic with a cut-out for the face and your customers can take their pics in it! INCREDIBLE ADVERTISING since your name is on it AND add your web site to a corner so it appears in phitos. These pucs will get shared all over social media! Can store cut out on roof, behind bed or have a folding version! Great free, fun advertising! We used for our business and was a hit!

Aww I used to have a pirate thing that you could put your head in but I wasn’t allowed it at most festivals as we aren’t allowed stuff on the towpaths and it took up so much room on the boat so I got rid of it

We're heading towards the end of winter here in South Australia. It's been very cold (I hate cold!) and rainy and I'm sick of grey gloomy skies. I lived in England and Ireland back in the late 80s and the grey skies and lack of light and sunshine really got to me. Mind you, they are predicting a very hot summer this year (lots of days above 35 degs C) and that's also a bit hard to bear. However, I'd rather be hot than cold!

Years ago when we passed the Armitage factory for the first time we heard a lot of noise. The toilet pots that failed QA were thrown out from the top floor of the factory on a big heap on the ground.

In Rugeley town center there is a Pub the Talbot where one of the infamous Palmer the poisoner victims had an autopsy done. I worked on that pub refurbing it. There are tunnels going off from the pub under the town. I have been in the cellar and into one of the tunnels now bricked up, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. Just a scary place Rugeley was a big coal mining town besides the other trades that you mentioned.

'Hi my lil Piratical Darlin ,yo'ure l ooking really good ( the Bonny effect) and s is Bonny in heroine plush bed a worthy successor to the late departed Puddin .The window in the Cratch covers great idea ,now Bonny can look out in inclement weather..Ye gods andlittlefishes that's a very narrow section of the canal ,what a nightmare. When you were passing that toilet factory brought back memories of my sailing days with Manchester Liners we would carry shipments of toilets on every voyage bingexported to North America ,Yes me dear I'm sure many are still utilizing Shanks and Tyfods to this day for #2 .I love you back cabin recitations people unlike me are very poetical. I had a chilled girl like that from a rescue & was lucky enough to have her company for 10 years. We have something along the same line with coffee but we boil the water and put it into a flask, you pump the machine once you have the coffee in the machine. Sounds like yours but they are different. Pretty town but such a pretty area. Bonny has done amazingly well on the roof. Good to see how well you are both getting along, do enjoy your videos. Always good for an innuendo giggle. Thinking about your brews on low power, have you ever thought about a jet boil system? It's an all in one, thermal mug, single gas hob and gas canister. Made for camping so it's small and light, but fast boils one mug of water, perfect to just keep on the hatch in front of you pre filled, ready to use. If nothing else it's worth checking out.

Of course you can choose to spell Bonny any way you want to . But as you’ll notice a lot of people without knowing spell it Bonnie…that’s because Bonnie is the normal spelling for one’s first name….Bonny ( which is normally Bonney) I’d the spelling for ones last name. So if your wondering why so many people spell it differently than you well there’s the best explanation I can think of….✌🏼✌🏼

@@dnewnova oh the engine chimney !! Not the log burner chimneys … nah the engine makes that sound as it’s a 2 cylinder lister 😄🏴‍☠️ the splitter on the top just splits the smoke and pressure otherwise it knocks all the crap of the underneath of bridges when I go under them onto my roof
