Ian is an absolute legend! I live about as south as you can get in the UK (Eastbourne) and I grew up in London and I've never got the impression that Stoke-on-Trent was rough or ugly. It's always fascinated me because of it's central role in the production of ceramics and if I could I'd love to visit. As Natasha said everywhere has it's rough areas but you just don't go to them. The same can be said about every village, town and city in the UK. There's beauty everywhere if you want to find it. Merry Christmas everyone ❤

Before the National Trust and houses and land being left to them the only way to avoid paying Death Duty on a property was for it to be uninhabitable, this could not be deliberately done but there was a massive legal loophole, one removed the roof and floors under the pretext of doing refurbishment and alterations but the money had ran out. This was done to many Stately Houses and Farmhouses that had become surplus to need but not wanting to sell or break up a profitable estate.

As a resident Stokie myself, i loved watching this duck, Ian is right Stoke-on-Trent does get a bad wrap back in its day it was thee epicentre of industry, pottery and mining mostly, I am literaly a stone throw away from Chatterley Whitfield colliery which is an industrial time capsule and is widely acknowledged to be the most comprehensive surviving example of a deep mine site in England, anyway I digress haha a lot of Stoke is in a state of disrepair but there s a lot of history here, from a proud Stokie, thank you Ian And Natasha/Debbie

Mark, I was told at primary school in the 60's that Stoke on Trent was the epicentre of the world for pottery, thus the nickname of Stoke City FC, understandable and I can believe it, You still have a very fine city sir.

@ security will be stepped up from now on, but it’s taken this horrific incident to make changes. There must be access for emergency vehicles, but from now on, I can see them placing vehicles in front of the gap that can be moved if required. I’m surprised nobody thought of that, while putting the concrete barriers into position that would’ve been my first thought, well planning security

My mum is from Stoke on Trent so I practically grew up in Trentham Gardens - it’s been poshed up since I grew up rolling down the grass hills by the lake. There’s SO much there now. When my mum was growing up they had a huge outdoor swimming pool u cld get to via a train in the grounds. I pretty much lived at Trentham garden as a kid - my parents got married there too. The garden centre is quite the experience and it’s HUGE. So so many ways to disappear your bank account in there… And the grounds are just wonderful. It’s a massive place. I took my youngest son up there for a week in 2019, stayed at that hotel in the grounds. He’s been desperate to go back since! I was born in London, but my spiritual home is Trentham.

My local garden centre! They also have artisan makers markets and in the summer they host a series of concerts by the lake. And it was used by the army during WW2 to house soldiers. My friend's granddad was stationed there for a while. The old ballroom played host to big bands back in the day, including The Beatles.

I love Trentham Gardens. The garden centre isn't the main event for me, it's the garden and lake walk. There are lots of fabulous fairies to find, even ones playing in the lake and hanging from the bridge. The natural planting in the flower beds is gorgeous. There is a little train running along the lake side. Then there is Monkey Forest with rescued Barbary apes that you can wander among and watch as they appear to be fed by the keepers. It's an amazing place. The Italianate Garden in the summer is a sight to behold.

❤ This year there were 15 of us who had Tea with Santa at Trentham Garden Centre (Blue Diamond)! (£15 each) The children had a Teddy, we all had sandwiches & cakes - then Santa visits & talks to every child at the table, then they visit him in his grotto. They are given another gift, drinking chocolate & Reindeer food! Such a Christmassy evening. We also went last year & we will book again next year - it is so magical. ❤ MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE from STOKE ON TRENT ❤

I'm from Stoke on Trent and have visited The Trentham Estate thousands of times. As well as the Italian gardens, shopping village, garden centre and the many wire fairies but it's also a huge nature reserve and conservation site. I did wildlife photography for the estate for 18 months, a few years back.

Wow the Tremham estate certanly has changed since I last remember it about 40year ago. A couple of things Ian didn;t mention in his video is that about 5 minutes down the road from the Trentham estate is a moneky forest, and that the river Trent actually starts in Stoke On Trent hence why it;s not very wide here.

I was the Head chef at the old Trentham Gardens 1993 - 97 when the old ballroom was still there . As great as Trentham is now i think it was awful they demolished the Grand Ballroom , the dance floor was magnificent. It was reinstalled after the war by the bank of England after the ballroom was used as a cheque clearing house for all major banks , to avoid the bombing in London . The ladies shoes damaged the floor so the banks replaced it a a gesture of thanks .I left the company when the developer St Modwen took over in 97 . I was there when Oasis played there but as Ian mentioned so many artists played there particularly in the 60s and 70s including the Beatles. We held banquets for up to 1000 people in the ballroom and many varied events in there . The building also had a carvery restaurant , bars , coffee / snack bar and 5 other function / event rooms . The grounds had many outdoor events including a stage for the world rally ( motor sport ) championship which attracted 1000s of spectators. It was a very happy time of my career .

I love The Potteries, I studied painting at Stoke University and lived in Trent Vale for a while which is next to Trentham, you'll never meet friendlier people than in Stoke, Wedgewood Pottery Museum is also in Trentham just half a mile from the gardens and that's incredible too, I was thrilled once to help instal a sculpture designed by a friend of mine in Wedgewood's gardens, and I also worked at Coalport pottery for a few years.

Hello to Natasha and Debbie and greetings from Oxfordshire 🇬🇧. I really enjoyed Ian’s video of Trentham Gardens and watching your reactions to his video. It’s been quite a few years since I travelled from Oxfordshire to Merseyside passing the signs to Trentham Gardens but I never had time to visit. There are many towns and places that have not faired well due to the declining trades and industries over the past decades and have many shops that have ceased trading. My own town has a few empty and closed premises. I feel very sorry for those that live and work in such depressing surroundings and remembering happier and prosperous times. Once again, thank you Natasha and Debbie and Ian, and wishing All Love. Peace and Happiness Kindness, caring and friendship. Peace of mind and contentment. Happiness, togetherness, joy and laughter. ❤️🎄❤️

Hi ladies, I love Trentham Gardens! I was there in summer and inadvertently followed the Fairy Trail. Ian showed one sculpture, there are quite a few more and are all different. Some are obvious but some are semi-hidden. They are all fantastic! The shopping village will blow you away, too. Hope you get to see it all whilst you are here visiting. ❤ from UK 🇬🇧

Loved the video, loved the reaction, as soon as he said me duck I was hooked. I grew up just north of Derby so very close {normal greeting "Ay up me duck"). First visited Trentham gardens to see Tyrannosaurus Rex in the late 60's - great place even then, but now it looks amazing. Happy Christmas & Best Wishes for the new year to you both. LOVED IT.

Well done, Ian. I'm 🇬🇧 based and That garden centre is WOW! Totally amazing. I'm sure many British think that our big garden centres are modeled I n US ones, but this seems not the case! 😮 MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU BOTH and to Ian .

Debbie's face at the Christmas Village inside the Garden Centre. Our local one is featuring Santa Village with Elf show, ice rink and you can even have Breakfast or Afternoon tea with the Big Man. My home City of Leeds is twinned with Dusseldorf and we have a real German Christmas Market (the traders come over once a year), there is also a bar/eating place done out like a Viking Great Hall complete with fur covered seats and Fire pits. I think you two should come over from July to Dec and enjoy Summer touring and a real British Christmas.
