Man…that feeling of hearing a new song and not taking it all in cause you’re so excited it’s new, but then you revisit it and keep repeating it to hear all the nuances and figure out if you really like it-and then you fall in love with it 🎶 ❤

What i cannot wrap my head around is how this band, with each album they release, despite not taking any revolutionary steps with their sound, still manages to explore their style in a way to absolutely mesmerize and enthrall you.

Lyrics; Put everything in boxes Your head in a paper bag Leave all the windows open Leave the beds unmade Tell them that you've gone to see If you can find out what it means When your mind leaves your body Turn off the house Turn off the house Nothing you need to get back to No one you need to see Leave all the messages blue Don't even look at the screen Full body gentle shutdown So many people to let down Don't even think about me Turn off the house Turn off the house You're bailing out You're free of it now Full body gentle shutdown So many people to let down Don't even think about me Turn off the house Turn off the house Turn off the house Turn off the house You're bailing out You're free of it now You're bailing out You're free of it now

100% (OK 85%)serious question. Is Kasikstan actually the #1 exporter of potassium? And do all other countries have inferior potassium? It's a serious question, but lighthearted at the same time. BORAT put your country on the map, so I'm just curious ❤

Wow, vacuous and racist. Go away.
@FinnaeusEasterly Жыл бұрын
Seconding the "vacuous and racist" call out from @PaulWolfe1 Also, who comes to listen to a song and then leaves a mean comment like this? They're artists. They write/compose/sing/play what they know. None of us can speak for something we're not. As far as suffering - are you listening to the lyrics? Have you heard any of their other songs at all? Why do you think so many people support them after all these years? Because it's relatable in a world that so many people struggle to relate to, a world that doesn't seem to care about life anymore. The National's music is, for me, one of the bright spots in a world that often feels too dark and far too aggressive. It's the bright spots that keep us going when everything else is too much - whether those things are found in the way your dog looks at you when you scratch their head, looking out the window and seeing a bird closer than you ever have so you can make out the details of what you had thought was a plain-colored bird, seeing buds opening on a plant you didn't think would survive the summer, seeing someone after too many planned get-togethers fall through, playing an old game and remembering how much you loved it, or hearing this song for the first time and knowing you're not alone in the way you feel. I generally adhere to a "Don't Feed The Troll" mentality, but I take issue when someone that could only aspire to the status of "Keyboard Warrior" uses a comment section for music - music like this song in particular - to post a random, inflammatory comment to... to accomplish... well, what, exactly? All you're doing is attempting to spread your particular breed of incomprehensible, shallowness and flaccidity to people creating beautiful things for the world to hear, as well as those who just want to hear their music. Just the acknowledgement that we aren't alone is validating and allows us to keep living, to keep finding those bright spots that help us get through the hardest part of the days and the darkest, loneliest parts of the nights. I hope some day you find a bright spot. I hope that you will then see how important having something, anything, to live for is.
