I personally like Hidden History more. I do like the new album. But Hidden to me felt like a much more organic inclusion of nontraditional elements, a la Death’s Human, with a lot of smooth transitions between the different styles. I do like the Tangerine Dream cameo, but in contrast, this album swings wildly back and forth between segments that imo have little to do with each other, while feeling a lot more on the nose about trying to go “outside the box”. It almost feels ashamed to be death metal, and the parts of the album that are celebrated the most are basically celebrated because they aren’t, in fact, death metal. Im glad they are getting kudo’s, anyway, because I do think these guys are doing something creative. I just hope the next record features the metal element more prominently and finds a way to meld the metal and nonmetal elements together more cohesively.

@@Garfilt77 dude, the harsh vocals were also my biggest issue for years, but if/when you dig deeper, you’ll find it’s not all just awful screeching and/or cartoonish cookie monster sh!t.. I mean, a lot of it *is* that, but there’s good death, black, grind, etc, with vocals I find range from definitely tolerable to surprisingly enjoyable.. it all depends on your taste and what you can get down with obviously.. I’m just saying, as someone whose biggest barrier to metal was the harsh vocals, I became a fan once I actually explored the genre more deeply, from the 80s to today.. I mean, I always like “doom” and a lot of old school heavy metal, that stuff doesn’t have the same high bar of entry. I’m talking the “extreme metal”.. If you like the music, there’s artists you can definitely get into, even love. ✌️

I think this deserves higher than an 8. I’ve never really cared for BI… I don’t dislike them but outside of Timewave Zero, I didn’t really care. This album on the other hand blew my mind.

Timewave zero is literally just like synth noises. Not really an album imo

Over the years I‘ve noticed, that pretty much every time you describe something as a 3/4 time signature it’s actually 6/8. Not a big deal, but they are very different in feel! Besides that, I LOVE this album! Definitely a 9 for me

Best metal album ive heard this year loved the message 2s blatant prog influences and the growl vocals where good. Fun riffs and a lot drums to sir drum along with. Enjoyable album 8-9 out of 10 for me

I didn't love all their previous stuff, but I'm eager to check this out for sure! Side note, I'd love for you to check out Trog's 'Horror's Beyond' album. You got me into 'Of Vomit Reborn' so I'm curious to hear your thoughts on their LP.

Very good album. I am not a super fan of ambient but they realy managed to pull this blend out very well. The only downside for me it's too short, not enough music for me tbh. The 3rd part with extra 3 tracks would be great.

One of the sickest most diverse band out there. Love everything they do. Solid 9 for me.

Yeah this band has been on a war path for over 5 years now. Very modern metal sound. Saw them open a show recently and was totally blown away.
