sorry man but j.cole releases the same sounding album for the fifth time in a row, while kendrick dropped two of the most turned up songs of 2016 while being ironic so no place for argument. and the repeatedly stolen exchange beat is another problem. I respect cole tho for the record
@daxerbreh7 жыл бұрын
SK MIHOV I believe Coles albums are all different from each other. Born Sinner was speaking thin a different tone with a more hard or dark beat. Sideline Story was all happy and fun going. 2014 Forest Hills Drive was somber and slow meant to tell a story of his past through a full album. 4 Your Eyez Only is speaking of somebody else's life and having Coles twist added in with it. The beats were similar but not the same to Forest Hills.

Honestly, Kendrick's level of artistry is soooo high above his contemporaries, anybody else can only DREAM of reaching his level. I love how honest and raw this thing feels... It almost feels like a BTS for TPAB to me or some afterthoughts. It's not so glitzy and glammed up like TPAB but I'm okay with that because of tracks like the 7th one where at the end he's building up this vision of a stage performance. It's really intimate. Reminds me of times with my band and I love it.

I think I legit listened to Untitled 08, which I'm dubbing "Blue Faces", 8 times in a row Monday morning. That, 04, and 05 are my favorites. Kendrick just continues to solidify himself as my favorite rapper going today. Even his unpolished work is quality. And that means the world to meee.

As much as I enjoy Theneedledrop he's really developing a fanbase of drones who wait for him to give them the OK on whether they should or are allowed like something or not. I've literally seen people go from LOVING a project to second guessing themselves after his negative opinion or hating a project to praising I after it received a high rating.

I agree and disagree at the same time. Yes there's times where Anthony makes me see something from another perspective and past the hype it's not as good as I thought or more flaws than I thought. doesn't mean I dislike it. Other times I completely disagree - his review of EGO death was BS for me. His review of a new place 2 drown was also off the mark for me.

As a Kendrick fan, I really enjoyed this project for its musicality, concepts and role as a snapshot of the building phases of the TPAB sound. As a Thundercat fan, I enjoyed the sexy bass and the fact that the last track rolls seamlessly into Apocalypse in my playlist. For what is essentially a throwaway EP, this project is surprisingly very pleasing to the ear and stimulating to the mind.

It's kinda sad that this album is getting more and more forgotten with each passing year because of it's obscure compilation status and it not being a studio album. I feel like the most discussion this project has got in recent years was when Childish Gambino dropped 3.15.20, and people were talking about the similarities of the two.

Yeah except this is almost my favorite release by Kendrick, it's probably his most solid rendition to date, because although they are afterthoughts, comparatively to his larger and much longer albums, there are sometimes bigger gaps to fit looser instrumentations and atmosopheres rather than faster and more tempo-sensitive cyphers. He has tons of great moments on this album, and I think it bears remembering. I think you're taking it too seriously. That's the point of this record, dude. It's meant to be just sorta blaze in parts, on purpose, to see how raw the album really is.

Lucas Jenkin i feel that, I can't tell if I really love UU or if I'm a ultra mega Kendrick Stan
@sacredxgeometry8 жыл бұрын
I mean I know for sure I love it because of the undeniable credibility he gives to even his less-worked on material and that's why I like him. But my favorite part is that he appreciates music. Good soul, good funk, and great vibes come from his music. It's not overproduced shit like Travis $cott or Future or even Lil Yachty.
@GuysOfFilm8 жыл бұрын
Lucas Jenkins I can't agree with that last bit lol. But you are right, Kendrick does have that "good vibrations" feel to a lot of his shit

@GuysOfFilm8 жыл бұрын
Overproduced in terms of vocal effects? Or in terms of beats? In terms of stuff like autotune, yeah there's a fair amount of that. But I wouldn't say that it's by any means "overproduced". Also, it takes like little to no effort to make a typical trap beat haha

My interpretation of the track "Untitled 01" was Kendrick describing the end of the world/the apocalypse as it was written in the Bible. There were many references to the prophetic occurrences portrayed in the book of revelations in Kendricks verse. I feel as though he recognizes and believes the world is inevitably headed towards that demise. Just my 2 cents, good review man.
