If you know anything about Greek pop culture you know the 10 minute song in Marina's EP was an ACTUAL cultural reset
@peter-yh8mmАй бұрын
Pls explain
@prismaperfetto7979Ай бұрын
@@peter-yh8mm besides bringing the πανηγύρι vibes (which is like a big very balkan type of festival and has a very district type of music assosiated with it, I'm talking clarinet, vox with massive amounts of delay, traditionals songs being played right after modern greek songs about cheating on someone or smth, etc.) to a contemporary pop sound, it brings the avengers of Greek pop culture in one track. It has Λευτέρης Πανταζής (who is a cult icon of λαϊκό, which is a kind of modern folk with a very distinct aesthetic), Rack and Vlospa (who are huge, relatively new rappers), a sample of fucking Έφη Θώδη (who is a big πανηγύρι music icon, and had made negative comments about Marina prior to this song's release, they eventually worked it out) and a section in spanish for some reason (which slaps). It also has like a billion references to just being Greek, I can't explain it otherwise. There's Yamaha motorcycles mentioned (which is huge Greek village vibes), saying sentences in English with an intense Greek accent, Vlospa says "12άρι, Σάττι" (which is a slang-ish way of saying someone deserves 12 points in the ESC), Πανταζής does a "λυσσάρες" adlib (which is a funny term used to reffer to people BEGGING for the type of nightlife we have around here), Marina references someone trying to sue her for using the syllable TA in Zari (someone who had written a huge song with a rhythmic TA-TA-TA section that literally sounds nothing like Zari, but whatever people here claim syllables too sometimes). All this and I haven't even mentioned half of it, actually insane song.

@jimmycarlson4871Ай бұрын
Not that I was checking every metal EP that came out this year but Agriculture was definitely also my EP of the year in that whole genre. So much power and joy in the two metal songs there (I actually prefer In the House of Angel Flesh myself, feels like a more tight and impactful bit of songwriting, and the guitar solo goes so crazy), and the clean tracks are so so down to earth and bittersweet, really makes life stand still when you hear them. I definitely see the parallel between them and Liturgy like you said, but I think their ability to use that sound in the context of a more traditional rock song structure is pretty unique to them and super gratifying, so I wouldn't just think of them as echos. Along with Chat Pile and Cave Sermon, they're one of my favorite metal bands to have a debut LP in the 2020s.
