Midjourney has its own inpainting in v5.2 (not v6 yet) - after upscaling an image, there is a button "Vary (Region)". You can keep adjusting any aspect of your image (remove/add bits, including unwated text, sausage fingers, etc.). There are plenty of good tutorials on YT on that function, and their own documentation, although sparse, is enough to get anyone started :) V6 also introduced higher coherence, and better text. Everybody expects it to get better very quickly :)

At the end of your prompt, you can also put --no text, font, writing. Often that will give you covers without text.

As an artist who many moons ago made my living creating book covers I can see both sides of this. It makes sense to eliminate the artist from the process and let the AI do the job instead- but the end game here is to also eliminate the writer from the process and let the AI do the writing as well. So we end up in a world where most of our culture is produced not by humans but by machines. I can't blame writers for not using artists- because I am an artist who no longer needs to use writers, since AI can do the writing for me. But as we all eagerly embrace these new tools I can't help wondering if we will all one day wake up in a world where something has been lost- at what point does AI cease to be the servant and become the master?

On the positive side I think traditional artists will themselves use A.I. for ideas that they will turn into real paintings that will be mind blowing. Instead of it taking decades for new styles to arrive on the scene it will literally happen overnight at the touch of a button.

@@obscuremusictabs5927 It can't create new style though.... all it can do is replicate. It doesn't take decades to create a new style every artist has a style and they can change it pretty fast depending on their skill. You probably mean art movement, I don't see ai art being in any new art movement because artists generally don't like to use it.

I don't agree with the supposition that AI will replace writers as well as book cover artists. Those are two very VERY different 'art forms.' A novel cover is something that attracts the eye and hints at what the book is about, possibly on a subconscious level, but it doesn't have weight or substance. The book content itself is substance from the author's mind and heart. AI will never be able to replicate that. (Yes, I do believe 'never' is correct. 😆) The cover is like candy; the actual story is like (at least) a 21-course meal.
@paulhiggins51654 ай бұрын
@@2ndRodeo_Keziah The most powerful AI's currently in existence are called 'Large Language Models'- and it's these models that are attracting the most funding and the most interest from developers. So the idea that writers will never be replaced by AI is an optimistic assumption in my view, given that these AI's are specifically targeting language mastery as a goal. Sadly many artists too believe that AI art does not have the 'mind and heart' that human made art has- but as you yourself demonstrate many people just don't care if Art is made by a human or a machine- and the same will be true of Writing. What I think is true both of AI Art and AI Writing is that both lack true originality and that in the long run people will come to see that, and will want to see art made by humans and read books written by humans. Personally I think that creatives should not be too quick to embrace AI in their work because I think in the future AI created content will be seen as a cheap and inferior substitute for the 'real thing'. So putting AI art on your cover, or using AI to create your work may not be a good idea if you want to be taken seriously as a writer.

This is so helpful, thanks very much! One thing I noticed on the cover text of the one you were 'copying' is that it had progressively larger font size in its three-line title. That would look good on yours as well, I think, giving the woman's form a little more impact. Thanks again! Gonna give this a try! 😁🙏

What advice or priorities can you give new authors getting into all of this space. The myriad of tools (gpt 4 and Claude 2 and Midjourney etc.) all create a big cost barrier to entry. How do you go about deciding which tools to get and when?

What's funny is when I see these kinds of book covers I immediately lose interest. They remind me of low effort self published novels. These kinds of covers are a dime a dozen and I have often wondered why people choose them for their books as it does the opposite of helping the book stand out. Though, there probably is a sizable amount of people out there who can't get enough of these covers which is probably why they won't go away.
@quigglyz7 ай бұрын
Sorry friend, but there is no longer any reliable method to determine which book covers are made with AI. Literally the only way to be sure something was made by a human is if it looks like MS Paint. Or maybe if you personally know the book cover artist and trust them not to use AI.
@trialshdultimategame6 ай бұрын
@@quigglyz Heavily disagree trained artists can still see ai art as of right now. Their are still so many iinconsistencies from broken perspective to pieces of geomatry that just don't make sense in the piece. I can tell, will I in the future that's debatable, but if I see a book with an ai cover I won't buy it.

That’s actually what you want. Readers read tons of books. Way more than any one author can write. So having similar covers makes it so the reader can easily identify your book as similar to others they already enjoy.

@@TheNerdyNovelist I see it as a new tool for scammers. If an author publishes a popular book, but the cover was AI generated, a scammer can take their cover art and legally put it on their own book.
