Oh my goodness dear Newbys, that was such a great adventure! I still have the shivers…. Several years ago we spent 12 hours in a Kenyan game reserve. Half way through we were stationary, in the back of an open high safari vehicle, quietly watching a small herd of elephant, when I looked behind us to see a ‘teenage’ elephant start a full blown charge. I managed to signal the driver who was low down and momentarily not looking. He moved the vehicle forward so fast….just as the elephant was within trunk distance of where I sat.. My hear almost stopped….so I can’t imagine how you could breathe whilst that enormous elephant walked steadily by you. We’d be holding our breathe if it were a trained horse and rider, but a wild elephant…. how did you breathe…..? So exciting, so frightening, so wonderful. In deciding to explore, you certainly thought big and had to be very brave indeed…..wow 😳😅
@TheNewbys2 жыл бұрын

That first Elephant trumpeted that there were some KZbinrs coming and so the big fella just wanted to have some fun at your expense because he knew he was being filmed! I imagine he was giggling on the inside as he left the path! 🐘 I'm a long-time lurker here having found your amazing channel during lockdown and I've watched and liked every one (some I'm on multiple views of) but after this, I just had to come and say a big thank you from the bottom of my heart for THE BEST safari viewing I've EVER seen in these past few videos - and I'm including all the National Geographic, Attenborough-esque, made-for-TV ones in that comment too! I know I've not really *seen * these things for myself, but to see them vicariously as you take us with you on your adventures is just beyond wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing your journeys and expeeriences with your viewers in cyberspace! Sending much 💚& *hugs * to you all xx

Hello Newby's... another fantastic adventure. Thankfully Crusoe was quiet while you were navigating the elephants. Can you imagine what the early humans felt when they encountered a wooly mammoth. Talk about comfort zones. Little man looks like he's on the verge of walking. So far has he been taste testing everything? I like how John just stares at Crusoe trying to soak every single moment... rightly so, children grow up way too fast. Safe travels. Til next Sunday. ❤❤🐘🐘🐘

Hello Cathy! Thanks for tuning in friend, and yes - we were also talking about the early African pioneers who must have been faced with thousands of elephants and thick bush and it must have been extraordinary. See you next Sunday! 😊

I like hear Tara and John swear!❣😂 It's not the swear besides 💩 is not a swear it's a real thing...a Noun❣🤣 it's the true Travel Spirit I love of the Newby's. The stowaway hen laying an egg, how it tried to make itself fit in, in-line with the shoes and the rest is memory as John sells the story to the bartender I say there is a book to be made about: Encounters though our travels."

Another lovely vlog, John and Tara. When I was last at Chobe in the early 80’s, my wife to be, booked us into The Chobe Game Lodge and we even stayed in the same room that Richard Burton and Liz Taylor had their second honeymoon! Happy days and there were many elephants including a baby, we found stuck in the mud which had been abandoned by it’s mother. It was safely rescued! I recall in an earlier trip at Vic Falls where when walking along the road from the A’Zam back to Vic Falls (not to be recommended) which coincided with a visit by the King and Queen of Spain. On my journey back the Presidential motorcade passed me by and fortunately I found cover in the bush a good while before! It is such a lovely part of The World!

I remember looking after a gorgeous 96 yo lady (in Australia), her parents were British Diplomats in the day. I shall never forget her saying to me…”…..you may see a 96 yo lady in front of you but on the inside I’m still a 16yo girl sitting in front of Victoria Falls”. What a stunning sight.

694 / 5 000 Käännöstulokset That's right. Crusoe has been really on the move all along. It feels like he’s already grown up and soon the talk is starting to come. Then the story is enough 🎵
