Forgive me. But I love a good story and since you said decide the ending yourself, *throws hand in the air* Alice after a while of being in this world realizes what it wants her to do and refuses to do it. She is depressed and alone for many years watching the dreams of others. She grows to like the dreams of Ariel. Now much older (say she looks like her mom) she finally can't takes the loneliness anymore and invades the dreams of Ariel pretending to be the man she loves. She doesn't how ever take Ariels soul and comes and visits her every night in her dreams. After weeks Ariel reveals that the man she loves is far nicer in her dreams then in real life. Confused Alice goes back and waits until the image of the man appears. His dreams are crooked and evil full of torture towards Ariel. Horrified by what her friend must be going through she enters his dreams as Ariel. But when they get close enough she steals his soul as punishment for his crimes. Alice now realizes what she can do with these powers and visits the dreams and nightmares of many. This way she can find truly what lies in there hearts and punish the evil ones. She is merciful to some, giving them a chance to change there hearts before she takes them, but while some change others remain cruel and those she takes. She is no longer lonely and has found a purpose. So Amalthea, recognizing the purity of Alice's work returns to her. She offers Alice a chance to go back home to her family and that she would take on the curse for her her so that she could live her life. Alice at first wants to, but realizing what helps she has done for the people of earth she stays. Amalthea blesses her and then leaved never to return again. And Alice returns to her duties after visiting her mother one last time.

Poor Alice! My thought is Odette ventures to try and find a cure or something to help Alice, as they met in Alice's world but Alice pushed her back out because she didn't want to hurt her mother. I think in the end Odette would find another way to trade places with her loving daughter, giving her a chance at life while Odette eventually got lost in taking souls as Esme eventually did, I'm sure. Loving the sad story and I hate it took me so long to see it!
