I will never tell him but my brother's wedding was the worst/cheapest wedding I've ever been to. As a backstory: my brother and his now wife lived in Anchorage Alaska at the time and lived well within their means from what I could tell. They met when they were both picking up extra shifts at a local bar. They got married in a nature reserve too. Beautiful location. Zero decore. Zero indication there was a wedding. The whole thing was super casual since it wasn't the first marriage for either of them. But it would have been nice to see my brother in something nicer than blue jeans. The bride even left all the bouquets at home by mistake. The reception took place in the bar they worked at together. Again, zero decore. All the food supplied by guests as a big potluck. So naturally, it was all side dishes because who brings a main course to a wedding. Oddly, despite the fact it took place in a bar, we still had to pay all our drinks including wine and beer. The weirdest part was at the end of the event, the last 30 minutes was double booked. By a fetish convention. So my moms face during the last 30 minutes was hilarious.

Coming from Venezuela (South America) this story is just so bizarre to me. Weddings back home (even day weedings) end really late at night (I'm talking 4-5am in the morning) and there's always SO much food!! I once went to a wedding that ended at around 9am.. they served us dinner, late night snacks and breakfast (yes, breakfast!!) - and if a wedding ends at around midnight.. the couple will know they didn't do a very good job with the DJ 😅

My husband and I went to his friends wedding a couple years ago. It was at a beautiful house they rented in the Texas hill country. We called about 2 hours before to ask him if they needed any help or anything from town and were told nope we have it all done. So we showed up 30 min before hand to visit with family. Only to find they had NOTHING done. And had apparently put my SIL in charge of making the entire dinner for 100. Only she does NOT cook. So she started asking for my help, one dish at a time. I ended up catering the entire thing when she wandered off pretty quick. Only I had NO idea what was on the menu so I just started digging around and making guesses. The mother of the bride thought I was the actual caterer at one point and was getting mad because it wasn't done like she wanted. She was quite shocked to find out I was an invited guest of the groom and was just helping. I now refuse to go to weddings in fear it will happen again. Lol

I'm from New York, if someone invited me to a wedding with no food, I'd go get food and bring it back. Just to piss off the bride and groom and let them know I'm pissed there's no dinner service. If you're gonna do that, have an earlier ceremony service so that everyone can get out by lunch. The fact that they paid a good chunk of change for an oyster bar and an open bar but didn't pay to feed the guests an actual meal! Even a buffet is usually an inexpensive option if you're trying to save money which I don't know if they were considering the reception was so nice but the ceremony was clearly not thought out.

I was floored, cuz if I had seen what was going on, I would have gotten out of there so fast so as to not bother anyone! 😂 People are crazy at park weddings! 😂

Now, I feel guilty. We were staying at the Ritz-Carlton in Naples, Florida as Hurricane Sandy was hitting the eastern seaboard. Florida got the outer rings of the storm, but the winds were still substantial. We watched from our 4th floor balcony as they began to set up a the wedding in the courtyard over-looking the beach, the water, which had been a beautiful blue the day before was muddy,, gray and churning. The bridal runner was flapping on the wind, eventually 2 hotel staff members literally threw themselves down on each end of the runner in the "x" position to weigh it down. Tape simply wasn't working. The guest were getting blown all over the place by the wind, as were their chairs, the staff couldn't put them upright fast enough ,women's skirt were blown up over their heads. I could even see one man's toupee flapping in the breeze. The runner "weight" rolled off the carpet just in time for the bride to start down the aisle. Halfway down her veil was picked up by the wind and flew away, the staff member then found himself chasing the veil. He never caught it. While I wasn't in any pictures, this tourist couldn't turn herself away, I was watching a high comedy. I can only hope they didn't hear our laughter. This bride was so committed to the outdoor wedding she didn't make the decision to take it indoors, which we were later told was an option. Luckily, the reception was indoors. Her wedding was at the Ritz-Carlton and her guests were miserable. Use some common sense ladies, sometimes your vision of the perfect wedding just can't happen.

I had a very similar wedding experience! It was for a very close family friend. The wedding itself was beautiful. It started around 4:30-5 ish, so I assumed there would be dinner served (I should have know better, I have known these people for years and they always eat dinner hella early 😂). Reception starts, we are waiting and waiting. Bride and groom come out and start cutting the cake. I haven’t eaten since early that morning so I start PANICKING. I’m trying to plan my escape route to grab Taco Bell around the corner. About an hour later they announced a “late night snack bar” was open. It wasn’t a ton of food, just some chicken skewers and croissants, but you best believe my ass SPRINTED to the front of that line to eat my dry ass chicken kabob. I was then able to proceed awkwardly dancing to “yeah” by usher without offending the other guests with my grotesque stomach growls. I learned that day that at my wedding I will be informing guests if I plan to only feed them a hunk of bread and one lousy chicken skewer.

I got married at a resort in the Dominican Republic and there were several locations for the ceremony including this private rooftop, which my husband and I chose and it was beautiful. The resort we got married at was one that we had been to before; we saw a wedding take place at this beautiful gazebo on the beach, which also happened to be located between the two main pools of the resort -- my husband and I being in one of them. We stayed where we were in the pool and watched the bride walk down the aisle (because how can you not at least watch that part), but then we turned away and went about our business. But we noticed SO MANY people from the pool and the beach move closer, like right up to the gazebo, so they could watch and take pictures, and that just blew our minds. Like, I know the ceremony isn't blocked off and it's in a very public space, but that still does not make it okay for people to just intrude like that! I really wonder what goes through the minds of those people.

I went to a wedding reception/open house that was pretty weird, too. Not as weird as this, but it ticked me off because I sacrificed going to another event I wanted to go to. Basically, the bride & groom had an open house in this beautiful courtyard with beautiful decor. They served popcorn, flavored sodas, cotton candy, & corn on the cob with some powder. On top of that, some of the guests came wearing shorts & t-shirts. Granted, it wasn't the ceremony, but regardless, it's still a semi-formal event.

One of the worst wedding I have been was by big brother's wedding (but I will never tell him, but I think he kinda knows). My sister in law was always the one who wore the pants in their relationship, so during the wedding preparation my brother barely had any say in his wedding - even his suit was chosen by her (well, he is a big fella so it was basically the one that fit him, but the shirt, the tie... She chose everything). They didnt? want to pay alot for their day, so during the celebration the music was a small group of musicians from their town (for free) and as I was also a musician my brother asked me to play as well and my boyfriend to sing (because they were a small group again). My godchild also sang (he sings in a kids choir). All for free. They had a church wedding and then we went to the cheapest venue in our town - the food was ok. My boyfriend and I made their wedding souvenirs for free (it was our wedding present), the photographer was paid by the bride?s aunt, florist paid by another aunt, venue paid by both parents (my dad insisted in an open bar so he paid that extra), my parents paid for a place to stay for our relatives that lived far... They didn't pay for anything and they couldn't just put a bit of extra money for the decoration or even the entertainment... Even though the DJ group that came (paid by the groom and bride) was my brother's kind of jam and personality. They were cheap and you could see that on their day. I was sad for my parents because they wanted to help out as much as they could financially and physically (my mom made the baskets with the flower petals to be thrown at them at the end of the ceremony, made the breakfast for the whole family that day and offered lunch the next day to the family that stayed) and after everything was done, she got a nick nack bracelet (those cheap friendship bracelets for 5$) and my dad got a plastic statue saying best father of the groom... My mom wears the bracelet everyday but I know she is disappointed by my brother because she has told me and asked me and asked me when I got married to please do things differently... Oh I forgot! They didn't do the mother-son dance, which my mom was really bummed about because that is a huge tradition in our family and on the day the bride cut off my brother's tie and did a small auction to gather more money from the guests (as I said my mom paid for his suit, tie, everything and nobody told her that this was a tradition on her part of the family)... They had the nerve during the auction to ask for the parents and me to bid. Yeah... That was just wierd. But if it is a tradition from her part of the family I understand but they should have at least told my parents so they could be counting on it. If you read all this, thank you! This is one major rant xD

As you were telling it I was like "well... That's not that bad.... I mean.... It happens....." Then the photographer comment and the tourists reminded me of my brother in law's wedding. We didn't go because it was in Hawaii and like... Way too much money for us, but my mother in law, his mom, was the photographer. They went to some place for a photoshoot and these people WOULD NOT get out of her picture. She's so good at editing, if you saw the picture you'd never know those people were even there. But back to the video... I mean, everything seemed like if it hadn't all been at once it wouldn't have been that bad until.... The nonexistent meal.... That's bad. That's really really bad. My husband and I got married really quickie style and didn't have a ceremony. Sounds weird but we got married in a Denny's, the place where we had our first date. We only had the officiant and 2 witnesses there and we bought everyone's dinner. It was nice. I do want to have a real ceremony eventually when we have the money for it, but it's still not going to be a big to do.

I get maby having a wedding that is less formal in the sense that it’s not really a formal sit down dinner that’s either played and served individually or as a buffet but instead choosing to have it either as a more you can make a plate of food off of a buffet when you want and their not being such a formal seating arrangement or just having appetizers either being served by wait staff or on a buffet but should be plentiful that your guests don’t feel hungry but however you choose to provide food you NEED to provide enough to allow guests eat and feel satisfied
@chelseydowney23744 жыл бұрын
That wedding is disorganized and mismanaged I'm like you if you're going to invite your friends, family members etc make sure to have it mentioned that if there's not going to be a dinner served make it known accordingly or just serve the dinner since you're planning on having seating and everything anyway. That's so crazy!
@lenaapple19744 жыл бұрын
WOW... So in my experience (I am only 5 min through lol) that kind of invite def goes to trying to fill seats. You guys also could have been on the secondary list to meet their quota for their venue. The receipts in the bag meant they were returning all the items purchased. I cannot tell you how many brides (I am a photographer) have told me they are doing this... between walmart, michaels etc. Even a wedding dress!!!!!!!!! Making you guys pay entrance fees to the beach, without telling you especially...is so completely tacky. BUT...this can just come from not being knowledgeable at all in wedding etiquette. The stuff not being set up... didn't hear why yet, if you tell - but my first instinct is they either are just not together themselves, or they expected help from those arriving early. Can't wait to hear. :D

I was thinking it the second you said the apps were cleaned out and everyone nursing drinks... but I didn't think that could actually be the case. this couple was beyond rude, every step of the way. Sounds like all they cared about were the photos, and to "show" their day was beautiful. BUT, in reality...wow.. Just WOW. The time indicates dinner. As the photographer, having the timeline, I would have been pushing them to get to the venue on time. So now, I am wondering what this photographer got. Can you show us some photos, maybe blocking faces? This is so crazy...... thanks for sharing!

I went to a wedding once where dinner was really far out from the ceremony, but they put chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks out for appetizers and that literally saved us

My wedding is next year. I’m from the UK and we’re having it in Vegas. It’s not a conventional wedding with no cake or first dance etc. But I’ve made sure, after the chapel ceremony, there is a limo-coach to take us for photos at the sign and various other spots and then we’ve paid for A three course meal at a private terraced at an Italian steakhouse. Food is a staple. How the hell can you leave your guests un fed? So rude

OMG! What a horrendous wedding nuptials & reception! Obviously the bride & groom are terribly disorganized. In my home country wedding planning starts 1year in advance and all the weddings are so grand with all details well taken care of.

My husband and I hadn't been married for too long (my 2nd marriage) and we went to a wedding for the daughter of one of my good friends. The reception was way too crowded for the small space, you could barely get between the tables. It took so long for the bride and groom to get there, and the bride was so rumpled and red-looking, it didn't take much imagination to figure out what they stopped for on the way...and I don't think it included pictures -- at least I hope not :-/ And even once they got there, you could tell it was still going to be awhile til food was served. We left and ate out.

That makes no sense how they have plate settings and a seating chart when you have no actual meal. I have been to a few weddings where they don’t have a meal selection option on the wedding invite because everyone is eating the same thing whether it’s a beef or chicken selection and if they are vegetarian they have are able to inform servers or it’s already something that is indicated on the invite but to just straight up not have food but have a small cheese and cracker selection followed by a late night of oysters is weird. I have also heard of people not having a traditional sit down meal but just having it all be passed appetizers by servers or having a appetizer table where guest go up to as they wish as food which makes sense

I was in my college roomates's wedding which was on a Friday evening at 6:00 PM (and in the middle of a snowstorm). All we got for dinner was snacks. My friend's bubbly ended up in the parking lot due to lack of food..

I'm getting married in 19 months so I can really plan correctly and not rush everything. How long is your engagement? Can we maybe have some wedding videos and tips and tricks? Thank you so much
@TheNightOwl12124 жыл бұрын
My engagement will be 16 months total! I have a vid on the channel about how I got organized if you’re interested in that! I focused on booking vendors first and now we’re just paying everything off. I’ll definitely make more videos about tips and tricks I’ve learned 😊

It's not hard. You have a lot of time to plan. I watched a lot of KZbin videos on weddings, researched a lot, and talked to vendors. Started somewhat researching at 24 months. Finally talked and emailed vendors at 17 months in. And now at 15 months, I already booked my day of coordinator, venue, photographer, and videographer. Everything else will be book by 8 months in. Then we can work on finishing touches and enjoy our engagement.

I just found this, but so funny. I had a beach wedding as well at a resort. I organized as much as I could before the wedding, but on the day, I was just "Come what may". We also had a guy (in probably speedos) who was swimming in the water not more than 30 feet from us so he was in the pics😂. There was food though. I didn't get to eat any of it cause I was busy talking to everyone. I sooo wish I got to have the sashimi. There was salmon that we brought with us from 6k miles away and ahi (local) that I wanted to try, but of course, it was the first thing everyone wanted. It was a good time, though.

Just outta curiosity, what happened to the Bridesmaids Horror Stories you had?
@TheNightOwl12122 жыл бұрын
They are both no longer listed unfortunately. I had a major issue with people doxxing the girls from the story (going crazy detective on my and my friend's socials and harassing them across platforms) and I no longer felt it was worth trying to keep track of. It was meant to be purely for entertainment purposes, and no matter how angry I was with the people in the story, I did not think it was ok for them to be harassed. I have two stories (non-wedding related lol) on my schedule for the summer though, so be on the lookout!

@@TheNightOwl1212 Sorry to hear that happened! It is unfortunate that people just can not seem to listen to a story without causing chaos

It sounds like the bride and groom didn't have much of a budget for the wedding either that or the just really didn't care about planning a decent wedding that people would enjoy.
@TheNightOwl12124 жыл бұрын
I’d say based on the venue we were in (Portland ME is so expensive) and the open bar, they definitely had the budget but just spent it SO weirdly lol. Open bars we’ve been quoted were around 5K in the same area, and our catering for 80 people was half that price. They definitely could’ve done food

Couples invite more people so that they can get more gifts. A small guest list is not something you would normally wanna have.
