This is so gnarly. I can't even imagine how difficult it was to skate back then - I use a 2 ft. launch ramp as a quarter pipe to learn stuff, before then taking it to the 5 ft. mini-ramp, and these dudes did all their tricks for the first time on full vert, which I don't skate, very likely never will.

For me right now, any 360 jump that pops of the end in which direction your going could be a (half) cab to me. The trick is so universal, that we can kinda change the original meaning. Like nollie bs 180 flip -> nollie bs halfcabflip, fakie fs full cab-> fakie fs 360 And so on. We should worry about the label that much. But sw 360 and Olli 360 can never be cabs

So, skaters can get away with a misnomer saying “full-cab”. But a bmxer using the term half-cab receives your ire? You would think you would feel honored that your name is being transcended to other sports and they are stoked on it. But you gripe, and that’s probably why they feel you hate them.

Let bikers use the cab name. Ollies, bunny hops, whatever
@yardstickbwoy5 жыл бұрын
? what are you talking about
@rickh37145 жыл бұрын
Bmxers . Bunny hops are the double handed precursor to the Ollie. In the 70's you would approach a kerb at speed with your hands gripping the nose and tail and jump upwards onto the kerb. You had to count your fingers at the end of the day. Some vertriders used it in pools early on but it was outmoded by much cooler tricks using one or no hands like the original Gelfand ollies on vert and Steve's trick here.
@partlycurrent5 жыл бұрын
I don't see the logic. BMXers don't have fs and bs so calling something a Cab doesn't really make sense to me.
