Hello Becca, Chris, FANTASTIC NEWS. You passed, well done. You took it to the wire on this Vlog, doing the outstanding Jobs on the day the BSS man was coming. Sat on the edge of my seat (watching) I knew you would complete the jobs. And how good it was to hear the amazing "Dramatic Music". I liked that Becca positioned the hole for Chris to drill, but then took over from Chris to complete the drilling. Solar Cell cables re-run and fitted. Let's not forget the Gas Locker was duly made good with a sticky lable. A Vlog with a happy ending. I am so pleased for you both. All the best. Spoolbox.

It’s pretty wild how thick that steel was when you were making the hole for the cables and vent. If it was much thinner steel sheet, I would definitely recommend a grommet because that stuff eats through electrical, tape and cable sheathing like butter. However, seeing how thick that steel is just a good wrap of tape around the cables should be fine as long as the edges of the hole are smooth. Great job bringing your boat up to good standing!!

Where I live, the council have just purchased a brand new 30ft narrow boat for short trips up and down the river. It cost £130,000! It still has to be fitted out with basic wooden seats etc. It's static just now as unfortunately, once it was in the water, it was realised that the river would need dredging as it's already touching the bottom. This boat has been made to order, you'd think they'd have done the dredging first eh 🤷🏼‍♂️

I see yesterday that my house and your boat still had one thing in common. 🙂 Still tied to the grid. Popped in to the pub for a few pints with a friend as it was a nice day and we were only a mile or so away. Well the house has 9.4kWh's of battery power, so may be off grid more than your boat at times. 🙂fingers cross that your both off cruising this year.

Cool beans! You are now officially legal. Just a tip for the future on hole cutting or drilling that will make life a whole (see what I did there?) lot easier. Get a set of step bits which are available for metal or wood (get metal, they work for wood too) sizes go up to 1 3/8 or so. I gave up on the hole saws years ago unless I have to do a really large hole.

Every Steel Canal boat should carry a little tin of "Rocol Cutting Grease". Ideal for sawing bits of metal, applied to a hacksaw, on a drill it is MAGIC. Drilling and cutting, especially tank cutting, is an absolute breeze. It smells horrible but does the job in 1/3 of the time. Don't blunt your drills and saws, lubricate them. WD 40 is not a patch on Rocol !!

for inside the pram cover get a plant pot and fill with crystal cat litter tray stuff and add some catus plants for decoration. The crystal litter tray stuff acts as a moisture absorbing material to help stop damp and it can look pretty.

Spit on hole saw blade and it’ll cut much better…. Solar panels work much better perpendicular to the sun, so a hinge wouldn’t go amiss, so it can be tipped to face the sun.

Hi, Ive just watched ( Ep 3 ) of a new Narrowboat Channel called ‘Ben the Boat Painter’ . He’s a former Professional Painter , now painting a Narrowboat Roof by ‘Hand’ and doing it on the Canal . Not in a special Workshop. It’s a bit of a shock to hear the number of Coats of paint he intends to use . Worth a look before you do any exterior painting . 😊
