1/27/25 Nothing like the genuine reactions from the audience back then. Some of the clips they use for some of the newer shows seem like a pre recorded laugh track. It isn’t real. The laugh tracks have the same cadence. It’s annoying that they think we don’t know the difference.

Ja'Net was supposed to be in a spinoff of Facts of Life. She would have played the aunt of Tootie's aunt, a newscaster in Buffalo, who was married to a white former hockey player. The pilot was actually a Facts of Life episode, but it was never picked by the network. It would be the first of so many failed Facts of Life spinoff attempts.

Yes, this from the 70s series Good Times and it was a brain child of Norman Lear. I'm not sure if he wrote this particular episode but it was very well done and one of the best from the entire series! And in case you didn't notice, that is a very young Janet Jackson playing the role of Penny!

Are you serious??? That is literally the best part!!! I actually wish sitcoms still did this. They don't sound like they're laughing on que, but rather fully engaged in the storytelling which is how it should be and what's missing from sitcoms today. A fully engaged audience. A lot of these sitcoms back then we're telling real authentic stories. Stories audiences related to. And it sells the story even more.

You must understand that tv sitcoms of that time taped the same episode twice having a different audience both times. It's very unlikely that the responses were the same for both shows. In the end they edited the two shows to make one final episode for tv. They kept the parts from both tapings they felt made the episode its best.
