Just wanted to give you guys a spiritual hug, especially Marketa (was actually kinda stressed out when none of you noticed her emotional reaction to the ep 😅). For a while I actually stopped reading Normies comment sections because it got to be so toxic and negative, and while it's gotten a little better these days, every time an absolute shithead slips through, I feel for you all. Rana's comment about not breathing or moving throughout that sequence is so on point, I felt the same. I literally felt my muscles tense when the episode was done cause was really stressed from that sequence. They really nailed the feeling of anxiety with the imagery, the background voices from comments, the high pitch tune constantly hitting your ears, the eerie music. Everything giving you a feeling of diving deeper and deeper into darkness, which is suppose to mimic how Akane is feeling at that point. It's billiant.

so this comment is specifically for Suraj - I'm from India, pretty young and I usually don't comment but I feel the need to show my genuine respect for you as an Individual, I know its easy for many supporters to say "haters are loud but your supporters are always there as a silent majority" however, when these same empty vessels are ringing at their highest capacity, no individual has enough sane mental toughness remaining to convince themselves that there is a silent invisible majority backing them up, I understand that. while I don't know what its like to grow up in America or outside of own country (I've never even left my country lol I'm down bad broke af), I can assure you one thing, these people calling you all these names for "not being indian enough" are always going to be there, there is a huge wave of such people within the country at the moment, they call anyone who resides outside as one of "them" and you'd be surprised at how many people within the country are being targeted with as well. Even being in India, to this extraordinarily small minority of people, you need to 'prove' your allegiance to the country, but do keep in mind, they're GENUINELY a VERY loud minority. These types of people aren't limited to just India but most of Europe and North America too. This is a people problem but certain factors maximize their Indian online counterparts (I would explain but I can't write a book I'm kinda dumb) you are a very genuine and understanding individual, you call out what you feel is wrong with things and I appreciate that, I'm not saying you've never been wrong, you have been and as an "Indian viewer" of this channel I have at times, felt the need to correct, but what your amazing quality is that you genuinely take every constructive criticism and improve upon yourself. Honestly, if I was ever given a choice to choose between The Normies and Blind Wave, I would never choose, both channels are special to me in very different and important ways, but if you asked me who my favorite member from both channels combined was, it would be you. of course, I'm a proud Indian but I do understand my country has miles to go before we stop but we're a young country, we're in our adolescence, we're hyperactive, quickly changing and have no idea what to do with ourselves and the future, so some of my people sometimes say stuff because we've been conditioned as kids to think of the West as our superior, but now we're growing up and realising that is false, and we're rebelling, its not pretty to see but I want you to know there are tens of thousands of people like me who think of you as one of the best Indian-Americans out there. This was me spending 10 minutes on trying to write a nice comment, when you talked about Indians calling you a race traitor, I felt a need to. To us, you're as Desi as we are, sometimes even more.

Been looking forward to this week's reaction, love your after show discussions. An english version of the OP came out recently sung be the same singer, it's really good. You guys should check it out.
@LeoTheSunHashira Жыл бұрын
I listened to it as soon as it came out, but it does have its pros and cons. The lyrics have again been masterfully been translated to match the intents and meanings behind the words, and most importantly, the syllabic rhyming of certain Japanese words and phrases, so much that it did seem that they reverted back to singing back in Japanese again. Coming to cons, the pacing of the lyrics became a lot faster than the original because of the extra words needs to accomodate the meaning of the Japanese lyrics. And there was a bit of a hint of dissonance between the Japanese and English versions. It's just my personal opinion which is up for discussion at your own discretion.
@bravaman Жыл бұрын
Perfectly valid opinion, personally I thought I was well done getting the lyrics and language to match the tempo and message of the song. I'm curious about their reactions since they commented about the OP and wanting to know the meaning of the lyrics.

I make it a policy to include positive together with negative when trying to give real feedback, it's a shame that internet culture rarely makes me feel like giving real feedback. But I try to when it could affect someone personally. For this episode I will say I really enjoyed the sincerity of the thoughts and discussion and I really appreciate the fact they are trying to pay attention and immerse themselves. It would be even better if they set a good example and discussed something positive about an aspect of an internet community that they have come across, because seriously nobody likes to come away from a discussion with just a bunch of feels-bad if it can be reasonably avoided.

Somebody else might have already said it, but the way I interpreted 14:30 - 15:10, and I think this is probably correct, is that they were using a combination of flashbacks as well as relatively current goings-on in the character's life played simultaneously with a bunch of audible comments so as to hammer home the idea that comments are generally just basic assumptions borne out of little to no information.

Yeah, my only nitpick was that one of them couldn´t tell at all that the scene was meant to be show her effort and the hate she was getting despite of it. It wasn´t her ignoring it or using it as motivation, it was just to show the wrong assumptions they had about her despite all her effort.

It's great how much discussion this episode generated among reactors/everyone, not only because it's gripping, and dark, and raw, but also because it's something that may affect/may have affected many of the reactors who watched, and experienced similar things (to a lesser extent, hopefully!) The cynic in me can't help thinking that people who engage in that sort of stuff will watch this, think about it, feel sad about it, then... Go on and keep acting like they've always had anyway. But maybe a few of them will learn, that's as much as we can hope for!

I often don't articulate things well because my brain moves faster than my mouth. First off let me apologize, because what I said about perversion in prudish countries definitely comes across as a broad blanket statement without further clarification. I will also apologize for including the Middle East in my point because that is not a culture or part of the world that I grew up in or am familiar with entirely. So for this clarification I will stick to my motherland, India. I was not talking about or attacking any religion in what I was trying to say. But I do see A LOT of hypocrisy in my culture when it comes to topics of sex and sexuality. Growing up in India sex or anything sexual was a big no no. Don't talk about it, don't think about it is what adults would teach their children. And yet in Bollywood you see women being hyper sexualized by the clothing they wear and the choreography of the dances are also very sexual at times (example: Madhuri Dixit in Choli Ke Piche Kya Hei) An absolute CLASSIC song of India, but also VERY sexual. And these same adults, who told you not to think or talk about sex, will have their eyes glued to the tv absolutely drooling over whichever actress is dancing in front of them that day. So how can we suppress conversations about sex and sexuality when its in ALL the media that we consume. It's very hypocritical and VERY CONFUSING for men growing up in these cultures. Which one is it? Are we cool with sex or not? Don't talk about sex UNTIL you're ready to be married off, at which point we want you to fuck A LOT because your parents want 6 grandchildren within the year. How the topics of sex is handled in India is extremely hypocritical and extremely whiplash. Although I imagine things are somewhat different now maybe? And because talking about sex is off topic, it produces a lot of perverted men (NOT ALL, IN FACT NOT MOST MEN IN THESE COUNTRIES BUT DEFINITELY A GOOD AMOUNT) because they don't know how to talk or act around women. Men see women as sexual objects in the movies they consume and unfortunately that mentality translates into their real lives. I've seen enough of it amongst men both in India and America within my culture to be able to say that Yes, it most definitely is a bigger problem than people might be willing to admit. "Bobs and Vagene" is not just a meme, it is a serious problem. I see the same problems amongst muslim cultures as well (again, I'm not talking about or attacking the religion) But I am not muslim so I will leave that alone for someone else. I probably still did not articulate myself well but hopefully this adds some clarification to my point. Some men end up becoming super weird because they were never allowed to talk about sex but WERE allowed to consume it through media. There's a clear hypocrisy in how we talk about (or are allowed to talk about) sex and how we consume sex through Bollywood. That's all that I was trying to say.

I did that last video already but since Marketa asked so nicely for compliments I'll just do it again. I really liked the reaction, this is a series that gives a lot of good discussion material and I'm really appreciating that you guys are taking profit of it and talking extensively about the topics the episode brings. The discussions might be even better than the reaction to be honest. It's also really interesting to see the show making you question things too, since you are KZbinrs, so you are a bit closer to the entertainment industry than the average person. Micky and Suraj specially brought up some more personal views several times already and it was very insightful to hear it, it's really nice to see that you're taking the show seriously and reflecting on it. Also, as a huge fan of the manga since far before the anime was a thing, it's just so satisfying to see how people react to the scenes I love so much specially when they're this well adapted, so I really enjoy not only seeing your faces during the reaction, but also getting a better understanding of how you felt while watching, which is why the discussions at the end are so good. As for people not posting many positive comments and often posting more negative ones, I am pretty sure that's mostly because we tend to forget the importance of voicing it, since we think the compliments are a given. I say that as in, we like the videos so much that we don't even realize that you guys wouldn't know unless we said so, I watch it with this big smile in my face all the time so it just feels like the norm, which is probably why people only stop to comment when they find a flaw, as that's the rare occasion things didn't go as normal. Basically what I'm saying is that it's very much possible that when you see a negative comment that isn't disrespectful, that person actually had dozens of positive comments on their head and it just so happened that the sole negative comment was the only one to make it on paper(screen I guess, since a phone isn't paper).

Great discussion I'm always happy with every reaction to this series because it provokes such interesting topics about the internet or in case of wonderful reactors like the normies its the content creation business itself and how people for get that those same creators are human.

Love from India guys, not gonna lie i was feeling little angry when suraj and micky are generalizing 1.4 BILLION people. Those weird guys are not even 0.000001 percent of population. This is the great example of how negativity get more attention than positivity, youtube biggest audience is india. For anyone reading this you are a great person and remember there are nearly 8 Billion people in the world out of which only 20 to 30% uses the internet,social media so dont loose hope.

So, as someone who's genuinely had depression and suicidal thoughts before, I ABSOLUTELY ADORE this episode. Okay, that might sound a little weird to hear since I literally felt actual pain in my gut from watching it, but hear me out. The way Akane's feelings were portrayed resonated so much with me that she pretty much became my favorite character as a result of this arc. (Currently Aqua is my favorite character, that was at the time I read this part in the manga.) To be honest, it's probably because of my own life experiences since I've had to personally deal with depression and trauma (still working on the PTSD, it doesn't go away easily and I'm not sure it ever will, but it's getting better recently so I'm hopeful), but I tend to really love depressive characters and whenever I see someone breaking down on screen, that scene immediately makes it's way into my all time favorites. (I know, it's a pretty messed up taste if I say so myself, I'd go as far as saying I'm a bit sadistic since I enjoy seeing people cry so much. But it's not like I can help it and I'd say it comes from a good place since it's because I can relate to it so much and feel a strong sense of companionship to said character, I am a very empathetic person after all, so I'd say it isn't a bad thing for me to feel this way). And I have to say that this episode captured the feeling perfectly. Even though I read the manga and knew exactly what would happen, I straight up lost control of my breathing for a second and felt like I saw my own face when Akane read that comment about an old fan of hers saying they'd stop supporting her, the close up on her eye specifically hit me VERY hard. I'm actually trembling a little bit while writing this since I literally just watched the episode (as prep for seeing the reaction, I haven't started watching your video yet since I jumped straight to the comments to vent my emotions a bit, sorry for using you as a vehicle for that, but I think this comment might be an interesting read so I'm posting it), I'm just amazed at how well the scene was able to capture the emotion. Of course, it's probably different for everyone and the situation that made me be like that was completely different from cyberbullying, but it did hit extremely close to my own emotions at the time. And surprisingly, this isn't actually my favorite scene in Oshi no Ko. Despite how much I love it and how strongly it made me feel, the manga is so unbelievably good that there are actually better ones later on. I used to say that Steins;Gate was my favorite anime since Oshi no Ko was a manga, but now that it's gotten adapted I can't say for sure anymore, it's hard to decide between them.

I'm not sure I'd agree with it being anonymity as the problem; more and more I see people give their real name and face and do this. I think the problem is that it allows a platform where you can say these things publicly and not get immediately punched in the face for it.

Those were actually flashbacks of akane. It shows how people dont really know a person but will still jump on the hate and lies, bet some even do it just some likes. Also helps us know more about akane.

As someone who got cancelled on twitter before over something i'd say is pretty stupid.... Yeah..... I've been through all that. When i read that in the manga, i was literally going through it all over along with Akane, oof
@ClodYT Жыл бұрын
was in a similar boat, but the 'cancellation' was mostly contained within a friend group. it's crazy how quick people are to make up stuff on the spot just to say the vilest things, and even more crazier how long the aftermath from all that can last on an individual...

The sad part is that Akane's suicide attempt is based on a real life reality show incident that happened, except there was no Aqua to stop it.

The main problem with her is that she only ever kept shit to herself, criticism and all that shit is nothing when you have acrual people who you can confide in, aqua is an adult he can withstand the bad because he has little to expose, but she exposed nothing of herself, no one knows her effort because she never says anything about it. Now that she is a pretty bad situation, she needs a friend, she needs to be less honest online, she needs to be more honest to her manager and even higher ups, and for herself keep the shit that hurts with your friends and family.
@BhBc8f8 Жыл бұрын
I mean she doesn't really have any close "friends" they're mostly co-workers and classmates who seem to have stopped speaking to her after "she assaulted someone on tv"
@andrewlevin7586 Жыл бұрын
I know you mean well, but that came off a bit like victim-blaming. What you said was true, but I think that all that isn’t HER problem. It’s the responsibility of all the adults and authority figures to help protect her and provide her a support system. Her mother was kind, but she should have intervened and asked the studio what was going on. And the STUDIO was just plain callous. Thank goodness Aqua was the one “adult” who could help Akane….
