This episode is what's called a palette cleanser. Basically the series would be almost unwatchable if it was non-stop drama and depression. People would get 30 episodes in and kill themselves. So to break up the horror, they have a palette cleanser. A fun/cute little episode with low stakes that everyone can enjoy. It gives you a break, to recover and recharge for the next wave of soul crushing feels.

Fun fact! In the manga grandpha didn't want to take Winry as apprentice because he accidentally heard that she is Pinako's grandchild. "I will be damned if I teach anything to grandchild of Devil of Resembool!" Also showing that Pinako was rather rad in her youth. But to not enrage her, he politelly arranged Winry some other good teacher. That bit is one of the funniest moments of manga to me. :)

Fun fact: Boiling water isn't necessarily needed to deliver a baby. It was mostly to give fathers and/or bystanders something to do to distract them from panic, make them feel like they were helping, and to keep them out of the way.

Navi, Netflix does skip scenes on some shows but that's just because sometimes companies charge you different prices for different versions. F.R.I.E.N.D.S. on Netflix doesn't have the Blu-ray or Original Airing length cause Warner doesn't sell the rights to those as cheap as it does for the TV Rebroadcast editings. As someone who's watched F.R.I.E.N.D.S. enough times to know how to quote every single line of every episode, it gets to me too when I notice an obviously missing scene, but it's just corporate business stuff.

4:40 interesting about that and real life right now. for those that dont know prosthetic research and tech is advance enough to do that where if missing a limb the sciesntist can surgically attack the prosthetic limb to your nerves to make the move. long ago on a post someone mention about the price to do the surgery, material cost and checkups for it being very high and mentions for sure there maybe some illegal black market stuff that can happen for those that need one badly. ppl cant afford it goes to a street person that knows how to do this will do it but with a catch. hidden sockets within to make the person smuggle an item into somewhere, hidden weapons either a blade or size of the prosthetic a handgun, worse case scenario a bomb. games like deus ex and similar cyberpunk themes in that world they have to do full searches on limbs to see for hidden compartments, switches, triggers etc. not trying to make it sound bad. glad we have tech advance enough to allow full movement prosthetics for ppl that need them but the day comes we become advance even more and this becomes more known to the general public bunch of new laws are gonna be formed around it on who has knowledge to do it, list on registered prosthetic users, detailed security checkups at airports and major public places and such. again thats till then which is 30+ years unless someone figures out to jump how advance it can be to shorten public knowledge and access to it.

It's not that NETFLIX cut the FRIENDS scenes, when the show was converted to HD instead of square box CRTV's, episode lengths were cut deleting a few incredibly funny scenes.

From Korra to FMA, the ol’ Wednesday one-two It’s pronounced Dub-lith, like Dublin I think cuts will depend on which version they use, Adult Swim viewings cut some post credit scenes. Don’t take the intros to gospel, not everything in the intros happens A lot of the manga content for this story doesn’t make the ep, for instance: Mr Dominic knows Winry’s Granny, he fears her greatly and she’s the reason for the scar on his chin. The 03 episode covers an Arm Wrestling match and Ed also fails to fix a lightning struck bridge causing Dominic to ride the long way around. YOU CANT HIDE FROM THE FEELS To counteract Hughes’ death we get life, the birth of a new life It’s also good that Winry finds a development, she will improve her automail skills while the Elrics continue their search These kids are 15 boy! They’re not thinking of that! Also she was unable to stand after the delivery. This version is more canon to the manga, it is quite like the Serpent’s Pass actually Ah you noticed the posters, good catch. The guy in jail didn’t have a poster, but as Navi said, they showed the military guy, the last poster was Scar. Next you meet one of the most badass woman in anime

This is literally the only "filler episode" in this show I can think of. Maybe there's another one or two, but I honestly can't remember - and I've watched the whole thing at least three times. Still, considering usual filler episode standards? This is still great.

I wouldn´t even consider 1 and 27 to be filler. episode one foreshadows the main plot and 27 is a lot of development for hohenheim and a ton of foreshadowing about him. I don´t know if these were in the manga in one way or another, but I wouldn´t say everything that´s not in the manga is automatically filler. As long as we learn something we didn´t know before, it´s part of the plot for me...So yeah I can´t think of any filler episode in this show.

I only call this "filler" because it's the least plot-wise significant episode in the series - you could cut it out and replace it with someone saying Winry is staying in Rush Valley to learn more about automail. Any other episode I can think of has at least one connection to the main plot of the series, and this is just a small self-contained story-arc. The character development's pretty great though.
