If you watch any of the behind the scenes footage, you can see that the scene with Ji-yeong was particularly difficult for Jung HoYeon. Like you said - it was her first acting role, and this episode is heavy for someone with such little experience. She did an absolutely incredible job; but in the behind the scenes footage, repeatedly obtaining that extreme emotion to get the proper take for that scene was clearly taking its toll on both actresses.

Lee Jung-jae who plays Seong Gi-Hun is phenomenal in this episode. His facial expressions and the ability to go from upset and serious to sad is incredible. Credit to all the actors though, this was believable and upsetting because of how well they portrayed this.

Played them here in Brazil too, though the names might differ. "Into the hole" was the one where you made a circle in the sand/asphalt and had to aim your marbles to end up in there, preferably knocking out opponents' in the process? We used to visit repair shops to ask for metal ball bearings from broken parts, they were much heavier than a regular marble and would be hell to knock out. In my street we played for keeps, with the only rule being that someone's last marble couldn't be taken, it was super fun

It's telling that Deouk-su; to some extent, is more upstanding than Sang-woo. As out of all of them he actually went to one of the guardsmen for assurance they could play another format with the marbles. While Sang-woo only chose to manipulate Ali, rather than actually consider his manipulative suggestion could actually be a possibility. Shows he was and is in it for himself only. Yet conceivably, he would know such an interpretation of the rules can be deduced, as he brought up clause 3 as a means to have a way out.

I wouldn't go that far. Nothing in the series suggests that Deok su has any compassion for his fellow participants. He didn't want to believe that someone whom he looked up to as a big brother would do that to him. But he was wrong their sadly. We live in a world where being Good natured is seen as being stupid or dumb and thus an opportunity to be exploited upon. But since Sang Woo had helped them so much already, especially him, he tried to believe in him when Sang Woo told him that both can win.
