Reminds me of people complaining about one piece and how sanji didnt get the swirl eyebrows or ussop nose. Like there was no pleasing you. Also if you notice people who never saw one piece than later watch it after the live action, alot of them even like the live action more since the human actors emote more (animation can do great emoting and acting by character animation but an early Saturday morning cartoon, well the on screen stuff relied on giant luffy teeth and crying throught your nose etc...fine but not as subtle as say the character acting in chainsawman or AOT and other modern stuff that's emotional and reserved and sometimes equates or surpasses live action). Stuff being stream lined in one piece live action (some reactors) even admitted was better, like connecting threads in the first few arcs.

I watched the entire series and as a longtime fan I really enjoyed it. I think most of the valid critiques could be rectified by making more episodes. There was a feeling of rushed pacing, a lot of exposition that could have been shown instead of thrown at the audience, etc. If they had made one or two more episodes I think it would have come out so much better, but that said, it was still great and I think the haters had unrealistic expectations of some personal fantasy Live Action version.

It wasn’t the amount of episodes, it was the placement of the right scenes at the wrong times, the clumsy and convoluted plot mashups, the awful dialogue, and the butchering of character motivations and arcs. @Seraph31810 ай бұрын
@@sammykent5752I agree that it's partly just his lines, but I wouldn't say that the actor isn't good. No it's not just whiney, it's petulance and entitlement, they just spend much more time per scene in this show, so we just see more of it at once. In later episodes, in flashbacks and other scenes, he slowly seems to be progressing as a character, which Zuko does. I believe his motivations when he speaks. His voice is also a bit higher than og Zuko, and less raspy, so that may also be why it seems a bit more whiney and childish in this show.

“People are mad that it’s not a 1:1 ratio.” I feel like that’s the most parroted (and most hollow) defense of this show. No realistic person would ever expect that, period. That’s practically a straw man argument. Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy is the most beloved film trilogy of all time and it also famously took many liberties with the source material. Why, then, is it so beloved? Because for the most part it retained the essence of Tolkien. Not just it’s amazing world building and lore and casting etc, but first and foremost in its writing, in its themes, in its handling of character (aside from Faramir primarily). The early seasons of Game of Thrones accomplished much the same. This adaptation, on the other hand, makes a myriad of changes and only a small handful of which are useful or necessary for an adaptation to live action. The rest are ill designed; done superfluously at best, or for the sake of grit and edginess, or at worst they alter entire character arcs and mishandle integral themes. One can forgive the wooden acting and the overuse of The Volume and the music not quite hitting the same. One can even forgive clunky exposition up the ass and a lot of crap dialogue (talking Rings of Power level dialogue). But the issues are deeper than that, they lie in the foundational work of the characters and themes, and it renders all the hard work and talent and passion of the various actors and departments largely null and void. It’s not the worst show ever and it’s even entertaining at times (shout out to Sokka and Iroh!!), but it’s also a very far cry from the essence of A:TLA.

1st episode was just okay, but the changes are very strange writing choices. Starting the prologue with Aang's freezing was off, the initially hook in the 1st episode is the mystery of how he ends up in the iceberg/revealing his guilt in The Storm episode, which is another issue. It can be contextualised to feel the same, but what Aang did was the equivalent of going for a night drive to relax then going back home, getting in a car accident on the way, and falling into a coma, hardly his fault tbh. Originally he makes the choice to abandon his duty, abandon his people, and run away, which is why he feels incredibly guilty for their genocide, it's just not the same now. 7 more eps to go, I'll still watch it, maybe it gets better.

So many channels talked so much crap and now they have to double down and say its bad due to alot of exposition dialouge so cant win. Since the show isnt nearly flawless and the original exist they can still say it failed. One piece was an exception since the bar was super low as no one thought they could match the tone and be not cringe even 30% there...and most even if one piece is popular, didn't see one piece and their first take on it was one piece fans screaming to watch it then saying no 1000 eps and the first ep feels for kids, then they saw a condensed 50 eps and said wow ill watch the cartoon now...and got hooked. We havent had an adventure epic for a while after the teen book craze failed by over saturation of mid and good books when you needed all great. Its like the super hero thing and some bad diluting the brand. Lastly one piece has so many eps people forgot the details and i remember even the normies going wait did this happen already here...oh well. People just rolled with it. Avatar people were hating for the smallest changes prior release, like focusing on soku's other traits besides being a raging sexist like really guys that's not all he was. Or how people cried that anng was set on the straight and narrow to journey faster. Stuff just needs to be streamlined same how split eps vs long ones make you feel like more time past. So luffy loving his crew feels like it takes a bit more time in live action for example. Anng being talked down by the girl makes sense in the cartoon they hung out for a while in our heads, in the show he barely knows her even if it's been about 1 hour in both cases.

I love the additional scenes, the battle choreography as well as the cast. It's so perfect. How I wish they could've included some scenes from the animated series that I deemed like a core to the show. Appa not being able to fly at first, Sokka discovering Appa can fly when he uttered yip yip, sokka being sexist, etc. I kinda understand why the original creators leave. BUT regardless, this is still better than the [REDACTED]. There's room for improvemnt and it could all have been perfect. 8/10 💕
@noneofyourbeeswax0110 ай бұрын
People always assume that the original creators leave adaptions because they're not being faithful enough to the original source material - but it might be the complete opposite.... artists and creators tend to want to move past just replaying the old hits on stage night after night because the audience clamour for hat they know and love... artistes tend to want to do their new material instead. Who's to say that the original creators didn't want to run with their original idea and have Uncle Iroh betray Zuko? Netflix would surely be astute enough to know the fans would hate that...thus conflict with original writers ensue and they leave the project citing "creative differences". That's just a hypothetical scenario obviously, but the point is that we shouldn't make assumptions about why there is such a parting of ways when all we have to go on is the citing of "creative differences".
@jefferyfosterjf10 ай бұрын
What are you even talking about its the creation of they want to redo the same they can
@Jay-ix9bc10 ай бұрын
@@noneofyourbeeswax01 Nah. We'll never know the specific reason why they left except for them stating it's a creative difference so the idea of them wanting Iroh to betray Zuko is a stretch and delusion in and of itself. After watching the whole series, the writing are too congested and messy specially the Omashu episode. Goes to show that the original creators don't wanna be involved in all of that, specially if they don't really have the power to change things and see fit what they wanna do with their own creation. They're the minds behind the creation of ATLA, so they know what's better to do and not. 🙄
@noneofyourbeeswax0110 ай бұрын
@@Jay-ix9bc Uncle Iroh betraying zuko was what they originally had in mind so no, it's not "delusional". The point is that we have no idea what those "creative differences"are that caused them to leave the project. What is delusional however, is the notion that as the creators of the original cartoon, only they are equipped to be in charge of the direction of a live action version.

The episodes were all pretty good. Book 1 is the trickiest to do by far because the writers talk about how there are so many random sit com episodes, yes good character development, but very little to do with each other and the story. It's hard to transition from one episode to another in book 1 and keep it fluent. They did a decent job at that and yes although rushed I feel like they grouped some of the episodes well together
@abiyujabbar430410 ай бұрын
You're right, Book 1's episodes felt like their own story in each episode and quite hard to transition from one and another. Except some episodes like the early and latest episodes of book 1 which will be easy. Solar solstice's episodes can easily be connected but I doubt it will be included since Aang seem aware enough of his duty as the avatar, the war, and the comet situation, it doesnt make sense there will be Roku to retold that story to him again (I only watched two episodes, so i dont know if the solstice's episode really exist, but in the trailer we saw Hei Bai tho), but "the other avatar" already told this thing, about his duty as the avatar. I hope we could see Roku. Also, Book 2's episodes is the easiest to be combined and connected since the episode's narrative connect to each other. However, Book 3's episode mostly come back into Book 1's formula, seperated into each individual story. Except the early and latest episodes, also the invasion one. I hope that they added thing and switched things up without sacrificing another things to be cut out. Currently i give this series 8/10

Doesn't matter how good u do in CGI, this show feels like missing the soul and chemistry. Lots of dialogues are just narrated, not felt. Acting is not as expected at all. Changes in characters is such a bad habit. Why do u ruin a iconic character by extra creative? I will blame direction and storytelling for this than actors. Now I know why Avatar team didn't stay with them till end. The first earth bender and lord Sozin did more acting in barely 5 mins or so than all of them together in rest of the episode. That says a lot.
