The whole point is that Mr. Peanutbutter will never be Diane’s only priority, which is exactly what he requires. He’s a dog, someone who needs constant attention and care and that is something Diane is not equipped to give. They simply aren’t compatible.

more than just that i feel like Diane doesn't really REALLY love him, she likes him and likes being with him but she doesn't see herself on a full husband wife relationship with him in fact she's not even sure she wants that
@unenthusiastic8714

I completely understand Diane. She hates parties. She has social anxiety. She says so in the first episode when she meets BoJack at a party. The fact that her husband either A. Doesn't know that or B. Didn't take that into consideration on HER birthday has to suck. So that's what shes actually mad about causing her to blow up over the little things. (Mr Peanutbutter not listening to her about the death)Mr Peanutbutter's main trait is the fact that he is either completely oblivious to the world or just doesn't care. As happy go lucky and fun as that seems I could see where that could get a little annoying in a partner.

He definitely went wrong with the party but I can understand both side's viewpoints, because Mr. Peanutbutter does make mistakes sometimes but he also did multiple other things for Diane on her birthday which she never addresses or gives him credit for and later on he is shown to be extremely caring and loving when he had every right to not be. Ultimately they're just too incompatible to work, especially because they both want such different things out of their relationship and their lives.
@yowo123
@yowo123 6 жыл бұрын
I'm not so sure he's oblivious. I think he sees the world in a bright way, but he might be forcing himself to. In a way, I understand living like that. You compartmentalize the things that upset you and do your best to give them a silver lining. Mr. PB has a dark side, but he forces it down for his own sake, or maybe for the sake of the people around him. He doesn't think too hard about things and just does what he wants to. It's probably what interested Diane in the first place, being the logical overthinker that she is. I think Diane was immature/inexperienced with her conclusion. She wants to move forward, but she wants PB to stay the same. It's... predictable, but I'd say it's naïve and selfish.

I think it's a long standing part of Diane and Mr Peanutbutter's relationship is that they do truly love one another, but they're also inherently different people and so much of their relationship is about trying to find a resolution between that.

In that movie, the comedy did not come from the fact that Schwarzenegger was too macho to have a baby or that his morals prevented him from being a good parent nor did it come from making jokes about pregnant women stereotypes thus invalidating the real hardships of expecting mothers. Instead the jokes were that society was not ready to accept that a man could have a baby because it forced them to think outside of the preconseived notion that the emotional imbalance of "mothers" was just another case of "women and their hormones". It treated all of the important steps of motherhood with dignity, even when Schwarzenegger went to that expecting mothers facility. And yes of course I'm overanalysing this movie, but isn't it so much more fun to do so?

Mr. Peanutbutter is not a good boyfriend. He's self-centered, he's just friendly and smiley about it. Bojack will have a one night stand with a woman and tell her she needs to leave the next morning. Peanutbutter will sleep with a woman and then propose to her and marry because he doesn't want to look like the bad guy. He gets married over and over because he can't stand to be alone (He's a lab.), not because of love. He has never been able to see any of the women in his life. None of those women were individuals to him. He treated every woman exactly the same because he's not thinking of her when he does things; he's thinking of himself. Even when he does things for Diane, he's really doing these things for himself.

Diane is kinda right though there are moments with mr.peanutbutter not to mention you've got to remember that he all but forced her into the marriage , people go "just say no" and all that but it's really not that simple especially in that kind of situation(as someone who suffers from some social anxiety though thankfully not crippling in most regards being asked a question like that and in that situation must of felt simular to what having a gun pressed to your head feels like I find somthing like that horrifying I have trouble asking employees at restraunts stuff at times let alone saying no to a question like that while what might as well be the entire world watching for all the diffrence it makes I might be able to say sure id go no or not yet from where I'm standing but I genuinely don't know what I would do in the moment) also diane hasn't changed at all mr.peanutbutter either ignored it or never noticed and the moment he forced her into things is the moment the death of thier relationship started without a miracle they are incompatible people at thier base levels and if he had given it time they would have either figured somthing out or separated on better terms but what is most likely gonna happen is thier relationship is gonna end in tears though I'm not condemning mr.peanutbutter for this not entirely at least they are both kinda at fault though I have trouble pointing at Diane because I understand her problem and it feels a little to much like victim blaming to me.
@cadehartman2872
@cadehartman2872 6 жыл бұрын
I get where you're coming from but I think she is equally at fault for the flaws in their relationship. They're just so incompatible and while Mr. Peanutbutter does things that are against her wishes sometimes it also seems like Diane fails to give Mr. Peanutbutter credit for all the things that he does do for her. He listens but often gets swept up in his own momentum and takes things too far. It doesn't help that Diane's anxieties and issues make her blow up over little things and that she frequently refuses to see things from his side because she's to focused on herself, I feel like that's particularly clear later in the show. Just trying to even out the argument because both sides have their flaws and most people can sympathize with one over the other. Most in this comment section seem to feel more for Diane, which I understand, but I thought the viewpoint of a Peanutbutter sympathizer would round things out a bit more.
@enochannor6550
@enochannor6550 6 жыл бұрын
Mr peanut butter didn't really force her into the marriage at all. She wasn't pressured at all and even after he proposed she was pretty happy. You can't really say she's a anxious character because she willingly went on live tv to talk about a topic that could possibly get her death threats from numerous people and could of also ruined her career. I also don't understand what Mr PeanutButter forced Diane to without her consent. She obviously doesn't give a crap about any of that because of how she basically exposed Bojack's personal life that he didn't want the world to see without his consent.
@superjonh1000
@superjonh1000 6 жыл бұрын
Even though I sympathize with Diane (as I also have social anxiety) I think she has its flaws and it's partially guilty for the situation. I know people like us (who have anxiety issues) tend to often be introspect and self-centered (sometimes a little selfish) though she could try a little harder if she wanted, I guess at this point she was just letting the relationship sink. I mean, it must be really hard to get out of a relationship if you have social anxiety (I've never even been in one in my life), so it makes sense if she was just letting it all go to ruins because she wants out. I binged watched the show but oddly enough I don't remember a thing about what happens next in their relation.

As perfect as he seems, Mr. Peanutbutter has a few issues too. He gaslights Diane, he’s unwilling to change, he’s naive, and he’s inconsiderate. Based on the argument, it seems that Diane has never heard of the phrase “trust, but verify.” He figured she was right, but he still had to check anyway. I still love him, though.

Diane is so easy to hate because she's so weirdly relatable lmfao. She constantly creates situations to be upset about and then uses her sad emotions to rationalize her need to create something out of a situation that could be nothing. But you can't really HATE her because she's not really doing anything wrong other than being herself.

Relationship doesn't have to be anyone's main priority but it is important that it still is among things you take very seriously and that people talk about it and agree upon it. You can't measure love and decide if it's equal on both sides or not, also it seems like a toxic mindset. Something I'd expect from a post-romanticism mind...

Okay maybe I'm way off here, but I can't stop thinking about something. If the relationship moments in Legend of Korra had the exact same amount of buildup quality and execution as episodes like this one, would it be considered a worthy addition to the show or a waste of time that is better spent on the main plot? It often seems like annoyance is met with LoK before a relationship scene even has a chance to do anything good, bad or mediocre; which comes off as a desire to completely remove as appose to improve. I could get into how romance in Avatar: The Last Air Bender seems to get a free ride from many people for similar quality, at least in my opinion, but that conversation would be a giant headache with an unsatisfying end for both parties.
