The first half of our last full day at the MN log cabin before heading back to IL. We are up early and do a morning walk to an old cabin site and check out some amazing stands of old growth timber.

I remember during the deer season finding where a coyote had killed a rabbit.I wanted to know where the chase started,since I knew where it ended.It took 45 minutes to backtrack the chase in the snow! That coyote earned that meal!

Martin, your walks in the woods remind me so much of my walks in the woods as a child. My grandparents lived on 100 acres in northern Indiana and about 50% of their land was heavily wooded. So many Sunday afternoons spent walking the serene trails, listening to nature and having great conversations with family. It doesn't get much better! Thank you

@@TheNorthwoodsman1 Looks like they would be great for bushwacking through the timber and easier than snow shoes to walk with. I remember a time when I was much younger that I tried cross country skiing though the woods. It was so frustrating that I finally took off the skis and just trudged through the deep snow.

hi Martin,, that was before the heavy snow, :0) we have lots here in Eastern Ontario,, How do you like the Hok skis? I'm thinking of trading in the snow shoes for a set, do you find pulling the loaded toboggan into camp better with skis or snowshoes? thank , Bob
@TheNorthwoodsman1
@TheNorthwoodsman1 5 жыл бұрын
For my uses I really like the Hok skis. I use many of the same trails every few days so the ski track really makes things easier. I did try snow shoes for a short time one winter. For the first trip through I found them similar to the effort needed with the Hok skis. Once I had a sled track smoothed out in the snow that still required the snow shoe or ski I did not like the snowshoe at all, such an abrupt stop with each step where as the Hok was so smooth.
@gilligallou
@gilligallou 5 жыл бұрын
TheNorthwoodsman1 awesome, thank you, kind of what I’m thinking at present we snowshoe into camp about a mile , with packs and toboggan full of gear, next on the list is some Hok skis , seems like a better idea. 👍 thank you, Bob
