People here in Mississippi will try to convince you we don’t have gators like this in the state but we do. They aren’t as common as Louisiana or Florida but they are there.

Yes they have them in Alabama too. I am in North Florida near the Alabama line and we don't have as many as the peninsula, but they are here. Every hunting season a few giants are killed and make it into the local news.

They give out 900 tags each year. That means it is only legal to kill 900 gators per year. That's how conservation works. If a certain number of deer and alligators aren't killed each year, then the population outgrows its habitat. Also you have something called chronic wasting disease which is a genetic and neurological disorder that is the result of overpopulation. People used to kill these animals as a normal part of life and it helped to sustain the ecosystem.
