I bought my then girlfriend, now fiancé a women’s Citizen from the locked case at Nordstrom Rack for $160 a few years ago. (Laugh it up watch geeks😂). “2 tone”, on a bracelet, mother of pearl dial eco drive. Beautiful watch. Bit of a diamond in the rough. It was all I could afford at the time but she loved it and got a ton of compliments. Maybe even more than the vintage Cartier she got as a wedding gift! Citizen’s always going to hold a special place in my heart because of that first watch and it definitely won’t be the last in our collection.

I have recently purchased 2 for my girlfriend, one of which is a yellow gold tone mother of pearl as a gift when she returned from a long holiday and she cried with Joy that I’d taken the time to set and size it for her prior to her return, so this story really resonates with me and I’ll hope to get her more watches in the future! Love this story dude and I hope you and your fiancé are very happy!

Bought my wife a similar Citizen for her first Mother's Day six years ago. It was under $200, Eco-Drive, sapphire crystal, and a subtle world time feature to quickly change time zones. She's worn the piss out of it, the gold colored plating is missing in many places. She's in healthcare, but judging the condition of the watch you'd think she was an auto mechanic or something haha. But it's never missed a beat, and she gets compliments on it all the time from patients. A few years later I bought her a cool JDM limited edition Sakura themed automatic, it's arguably a much cooler watch, but she hardly ever wears it as she doesn't want to mess with winding it and setting the time and whatnot.

Love to go to that type of show. Disappointed that their new pocket watch will be a limited edition of 100 and most likely it will be very costly. Thanks for the info, great to hear him talk.

Learning that Citizen made a rotary phone style calculator watch was single handedly the most interesting thing I've heard all day. Awesome job Christian! Been loving all the new content lately

Fantastic video…and yes Citizen don’t get anywhere near the credit they deserve, the 0100 calibre is frankly unparalleled and Citizen showed so much innovation and skill to create it. If only they were easier to get hold of…

Big, big fan of Citizen. Their Promaster Land field watch (PMD56-2952 and other color variants) is a vastly underrated watch IMO. My first 'expensive' watch at $500 at the time, but still one I wear regularly and use as a measuring stick to compare other watches against. Perfect size, amazingly comfortable, great specs, clean legible dial, and a great quick adjust clasp that spoiled me so I can only wear bracelets with quick adjusts now. Of my current collection if I had to cut it down to just two watches, it would be my BB58 and the Citizen.

Phenomenal video. Phenomenal interview. Thank you for an even greater insight to a phenomenal brand. Jack Forster’s take on the brand puts it into a perspective anyone would want to be more immersed in. Bravo!

I would love a Citizen 0100 but I've only ever seen one of the original ones for sale, the white gold one on Chrono 24 .... I think they made very few and no ones selling They need to bring it back

Got a made in japan PMD-56 a JDM model with a lovely green dial and despite it being a pain in the ass to set, its one of my absolute fav watches now. ridiculously accurate, light, easy to read and the casework and finishing is unreal for the price.

I think citizen gets something that a lot of watch snobs don't: 99% of people don't value mechanical movements. Myself, as someone who is interested in watches, would rather have the money go into the crystal, the case material, the bracelet etc...also they differentiate themselves with the movements by developing the eco drive, and other quartz based movements.
@swagathshettyКүн бұрын
citizen is like sony. Sony manufactures its own phones but makes a shitload of money selling camera sensors to other phone companies. Citizen is too busy selling Miyota movements that they don't bother with their own watches

Ok, u were right and earned a 👍 for this video... Or, perhaps, rather, Jack Forster did. Either way, it was a good use of my 18 odd minutes today after work to view and enjoy.
A Citizen Eco Drive was the first watch I ever bought and after diving into the rabbit hole of collecting, I told myself I would never buy a Citizen again. After watching this video on Citizen I can confirm, I’m still likely to never buy another Citizen watch again. lol 😂
