Fun fact, after his defeat in 1912, Roosevelt went on an expedition in Brazil to explore the amazon. He in fact almost died during his trip and it is thought that it contributed to his passing in 1919. Other fun fact, Theodore Roosevelt's son, general Theodore Roosevelt Jr was at 57, the oldest soldier to participate on D-Day, persenoly leading his troops during the battle despite beeing in Il health.

@@cooliuscaesar8076 Roosevelt was no longer president. However, being a former president still means you are still the commander in chief. That title never goes away. It stays forever! Roosevelt was willing to drop that title as long as he can command a frontline battalion. Wilson rejected his offer for obvious reasons. Roosevelt left the white house in tears. Theodore Roosevelt was indeed a true American Lion!

The reason why the teddy bear has its name is because in 1903, in Mississippi, Teddy had shot a bear, but also shot its cub accidently. Even though the cub survived, instead of letting it suffer without is mother, he put it out of its misery.

One thing Roosevelt influenced was the bayonet. When the military started issuing rod bayonets which were simply pointed metal rods fixed to the Springfield Rifle Roosevelt opposed the weapon and he did it with a hands on approach. He got into a mock bayonet duel with one of his officials, Roosevelt with the knife bayonet and the other with the rod. He won the mock duel by bending the bayonet in an attack proving that the rod was not strong enough for combat use. Incidentally along with boxing Roosevelt had a background in both wresting and judo, showing he was very much into the fighting arts. Missed in this video was the fact he was once a deputy sheriff when he was out west.
