Roman von Ungern-Sternberg, nicknamed the Mad Baron (or the Bloody Baron), was a Russian soldier of German origin with one of the most unique lives of mankind.

Born into a Baltic German noble family, Baron went to a military school where he had disciplinary issues. When the Russo-Japanese War broke out, the 19-year-old Baron asked to be transferred to Siberia, but he was denied as he wasn’t yet a cadet.
So he joined the Cossacks, fought in the war and received a medal. At this point, the Baron showed his fighting method had a complete disregard for his own life.
The Mad Baron became an officer and led his soldiers into WWI battlefront. After the World War, communists started doing their thing, which didn’t go well with the monarchistic Baron.
The Bolsheviks drove him out the country, and Baron went to Mongolia on the khan’s invitation. He drove out the Chinese from Mongolia and helped the country gain its independence.
Lenin ordered his army to fight the Mad Baron, and, overpowered, Baron lost and got caught. During the execution, one of the bullets hit his talisman and severely injured one of the communist soldiers.

Technically, Ungern was far from the last of the White leaders (the major ones were actually pro-democratic). General Diterikhs was forced to evacuate Vladivostok in October 1922, Bocharyev was destroyed in April 1923, and Pepelyaev was captured in June 1923. (Even though by this point the Whites in Russia were destroyed, the Basmachi muslim guerrillas held out until 1934 (or 1938, according to unconfirmed sources).
