I had quite a bit of hate and bitterness in my heart . Some of my family members have preached ( lectured ) to me by saying this to me . “ You need your brothers and sisters “ The only way I could get away 🏃 from my horrible past is to move away from them . A very soft sweet answer turns away anger but a harsh answer stirs up anger . I wished I understood why I was being punished instead of beating me and screaming 😱 at me . I need prayer please. I’ve been battling so much in my head and heart. I’m so desperate for a sign from god in my life right now. After unanswered prayers in my past it’s become difficult to pray and if I do I can’t help but feel fear of another unanswered prayer. Im scared another unanswered prayer will destroy the faith I still have. I pray and request help in prayer for God to send me a sign he is listening to my prayers and sees the hurt in my heart. I pray for strength and faith and a move in my life please. I don’t and can’t give up. People tell me god is who he says he is in the Bible - I want to believe that and feel that not just because others tell me but because I’ve felt and seen it.

Can you forgive but refuse to be in any type of relationship with that person? What if they continue to demean, belittle and abuse you or pretend to like you? I don’t want phony people in my life. I’m trying to make room for lovely and godly people! I don’t hate the other person nor do I seek vengeance. I pray for them and wish them blessings but I do not want a relationship

Forgiving a person who is not safe for you to be in any type of relationship (physically, emotionally, spiritually, mentally) is good but keep your distance from them because they will drag you down a road that you do not want to go. Trust me I know. Forgiving a person who is awful to me doesn't mean that I should consider reconciling/returning to that abusive relationship. If you do, you will end up resenting them for wasting your time and energy on them. You are better off not being abused or mistreated!

We don't have to forgive to be forgiven- that is a work, and Jesus was addressing Jews under the Law. We are under grace. Of course we should forgive BECAUSE we have been forgiven by God, but not in order to be forgiven by God.

Wonderful story but her later marrying someone else (if first spouse still alive) goes against: LUKE 16:18 (KJV) 18 Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.
