Still can't believe this song is 50 years old now. This song was one of the catalyst of creating what is now known as the Quiet Storm sub-genre of R&B, which was invented at Howard University. When this song came out, people kept calling the radio station from the dorms to get Melvin Lindsay (RIP) to keep playing this song on repeat (yeah I'm sure you can figure out why, LOL).

I’ve heard this song, of course I have, but I never listened to it. I couldn’t have even told you who the artist was. In fact, I had to play the video to be sure I knew it. It seems like music just played on the radio for me, I never looked into the artists or bought albums, unless it was a greatest hits album. So I missed out on a lot of great music growing up and now there is no more great music (imo!) So I’m rediscovering the oldies along with the younger generation. 🤷‍♀️😄

I saw them in concert in Philly in ...'78 and this was the one song they didn't do. I had a gun pulled on me on the subway for my ticket. Still got in as they were all bought in sequence. Wow. If you listen to the lyrics carefully, according to a interview that Phillip Bailey the lead singer of EWF, this song was about meeting a one night stand. The phrase “ love have been played “ was about convincing a woman to go home with you that night. Then he saids“ in the morning after the love games have been played and all of our dillusions will just go away “. Lol
