When I was a young girl, I was going through my sister's CDs and found Metallica Black (her boyfriend bought I for her and she never listened to it 🙄). I put it into the CD player and immediately fell in love. I listened to the album on repeat for a year and nothing else. I wasn't into metal or rock before then and they were my introduction to those genres and I've never looked back. Metallica and the Black album will always have a special place in my heart. It's literally an album that changed my life.

Yeah, I miss Jason so much man. It broke my heart when I got the news he had quit the band. I was 21 years old and I was traveling with the work crew and we were at a hotel and I had MTV on the television said that they did an MTV news break and they had announce Jason had quit and my heart just fucking sank. Don’t get me wrong I love Rob. Except this wasn't about drugs. ha! That's the thing with good lyrics, if you take them at face value you will go in another direction than what was meant. Some leave things open to interpretation as you see fit...this one leans you to thinking drugs because it kind of matches but then he gives it away in seven words at the end "I'm inside open your eyes...I'm you".

☝️A little trivial thing I love about The God that failed is how James uses the sound of him reloading a shotgun to emphasise Beats 1, 1.25, 3 & 3.25 of the Main Riff at various stages throughout the song! Yes, at times it also features during 2nd bar of main riff on Beats 1, 1.25, 2, 2.25, 3, 3.25 & 4. (It’s subtly hidden within the audio mix, but it’s plain as day when u know what to listen out for)…if u didn’t know this, u gotta go and have a listen now 💪

I'm a huge Metallica enjoyer, and not huge in new Metal, but, to give credits where it's due, Slipknot's album was the most well produced, the one where the bass is as audible as possible without taking too much space among 8 different instruments and synths. I'm into production and to this day I don't know which kind of witchcraft went into that disc, but damn, it shows!

About those wicked and powerful pauses in the song: this is about addiction being the boss. Being the one that sets the rules for you. The addiction is speaking to you & it's telling you, " I'm your boss. I am everything. And * I'm* the one that's making the rules here." So when you hit that pause and it seems so abrupt, palpable and powerful- that is the addiction stopping everything. And saying "I'm the one who makes the rules here. Don't forget it. We go when *I* say go. And this is your reminder." Those pauses are perfect for this song.

the Black Album was produced and mixed extremely well. The drums were thundreous, the snare like a gunshot. The guitars were heavy with minimal distortion, the bass clear and thumpy. They had a new producer which helped them sculp their songs from these 6-7 minute anthems down to a 3-5 minute song which were consumed by so many more people.

@@symptomoftheuniverse4149 100% 🤘🤘 They definitely morphed over the years and those supposed fans that are too stupid to get LOAD, RELOAD and the S & M albums as the CONCEPT albums they are is sad. To me they've only followed the Awesomeness that 70's bands did as well with concept releases. If you can't listen to those albums and HEAR the elements of rock and those Kick-Ass BLUES licks you don't get music. Some people blasted Hardwired but I love it. One of their BEST. Love your comment. 🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

My brother and I paid $1300 a piece for tickets in the snake pit in Arlington. No way in hell I would pay that for any other band in the world. That's how influential this band has been to me as a drummer and a bass player.

I just saw you guys reacting to Metallicas sad but true. Along the same meaning is a song called Bleeding Me. Absolutely is one of their best songs. Most people dismiss the album it came from, and I like all the old stuff but I think this is a must. I never see anyone react to Bleeding Me. The guitar solo made me drive 100 mph down 35W. I hope you guys listen to it. Also I love seeing how you all talk to each other. Reminds me of all my friends.

You guys missed the boat with your "One" reaction. You didn't "get" Metallica yet, and you hadn't really dug deep in their lyrics the way you do now. It's often considered one of their best songs along with Master of Puppets and Fade to Black. It's actually kind of weird to like Fade to Black and not One. The story behind it is amazing and sad... It's CRUCIAL for the full experience to watch the video because it has clips from the movie it's based on.... Do your first "re-reaction"! You won't regret it.

Whats really cool about your guys videos, is how you talk through what the lyrics are saying... you don't just 'watch'. Great stuff. And by the way, the Sad But True riff, is widely considered, the "heaviest heavy metal riff ever". For good reason.
