“The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Greatest Male Vocal Duo Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on a piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary. “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’’ was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century "Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965 Andy Williams Show (with his mother sitting right behind him) Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History... I agree. Bobby’s use of “Runs” is masterful. He created the style and set the table that all others have fed off of for decades. 7 notes just to say the word “I” is melodic brilliance. Their name came from doing a show near a marine base in So Calif and a black marine said to them…. You two guys are Righteous Brothers. In 1983, in Newport Beach O.C. Calif. Bill and Bobby at the Jolly Roger Restaurant . I was 13 feet away for... "Unchained Melody"- "You've Lost That Lovin Feeling" - "Soul And Inspiration".... They were perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible......

Very happy to see you fellas react to MY era of music! I was born in Texas in 1958. I grew up in the '70's '80's music gen that had GREAT singers, lyrics you could actually hear and relate to, and with many STILL popular 40 to 50 years later! THAT was music! The Bee Gees were ruling music then. Old school still rules music, overall, in my opinion.

Get ready, they're going to surprise you... I see you enjoyed it... I saw this song get a second chance for a lot of relationships. Ask your grandma, I bet she remembers the Righteous Brothers. Even though society at large was still pretty segregated, their music was played in black AND white clubs and their concerts were one of the first places where both blacks and whites found common ground and managed to enjoy each others' company. This video was a tv appearance.

May the Lord bless you, my brothers. It is indeed a challenging task to go back and explore our roots, while still remaining open to new, positive experiences. The majority of people tend to mindlessly follow the crowd, which is why I applaud you for taking the time and effort to broaden your own perspectives. It's even more commendable that you are helping others expand their own horizons as well. Remember to always continue learning and growing, and never hesitate to lend a helping hand to those around you.

Check them out singing (Little Latin Lupe Lu) Bill Medley wrote the song when he was 19 and he and Bobby Hatfield were called The Paramours It is about his Spanish girlfriend who knew every popular dance... In the song, he lists all the dances she can do, and as he does the background girls do that dance. they switch from one dance step to the other without stopping as soon as he sings a different dance name, At the end, The Righteous Brothers are doing a dance called The Swim. And they get down with their bad selves.

@Joskemom Жыл бұрын
They played alot in Black niteclubs. A couple of times when they walked on stage and the people saw these White guys, they would boo them. When they started singing the crowd could not get enough of them. It was a Black guy in the audience that inspired the name as he yelled out and said 'that's righteous brothers'.
@Aurora-tp3dy Жыл бұрын
Don't know where the black club thing came from. It was just a club, not black or white. (Orange County, CA didn't have a large enough number of black residents to have lots of black clubs or anything else.) It was called John's Black Derby. However, some black Marines from the El Toro Marine base which was nearby the club heard there were some white guys singing R & B. They went to check them out; they really liked them and continued to frequent the club during the months the guys played there. It was the Marines who started calling them righteous brothers. Righteous was the equivalent of cool. It was Buddy Holly who was invited to play the Apollo Theater sight unseen. When he and his band arrived, the organizers were shocked that they were white, and they were booed at first. It's seems this story gets conflated with a number of performers.
@Joskemom Жыл бұрын
@@Aurora-tp3dy Yes, the guys did play in a lot of Black niteclubs. I do not doubt your post of the actual place that they got their name, but they did play Black clubs. Bobby even dated the lead singer of the Blossoms.
@Aurora-tp3dy Жыл бұрын
@@Joskemom No, Bill dated Darlene Love, not Bobby. They met the Blossoms when they both appeared on Shindig. (Don't know how it follows that Bill dated Darlene in the '70s so, therefore, they sang in "black" clubs in the '60s. Unless, that isn't what you were trying to say.) Bill said Orange County was the whitest place in the country -- a bit of hyperbole perhaps, but he made his point. Did they perform before mixed race audiences...sure. But, black clubs the way you mean. Nope.
