From 1776, July 4th until March 4th 1789 (when the Constitution went live) we did have self governing states in the 13 colonies. The states recognize they need a Federal government. The "Defund the government" crowd just means less government spending but not ending funding for Federal branches. Countries won't invade the homeland because we have our gun rights. The country and the nation are 2 different things. Country is real estate. Can you be for the people and the land that they are on, and be against the government? Absolutely. Patriotism and Nationalism are different in that there are those that have a hard on for the nation. Then there are those that speak out against their government when it's doing wrong, even when it is unpopular. That is a Patriot. Fascism is when they tell you all cars must be painted purple. Those that don't comply get targeted. However Anti-fa was more Fascist than the Nationalists. There are accusations that the right is Nazi's (National Socialism). However they reject socialism. Love the reaction! My thought on our country is you can love the country and hate the government. Our country is made of individuals from across the globe. Government officials on the other hand are cut from the same cloth. One way to fix that is term limits and finding a way to end generational career politicians. The latter will be more difficult. Trust me - we can absolutely defund the government without defunding the military - the government is MASSIVE. Goes way beyond just the military. There's also still plenty of wasteful funding in the military too that we can cut.

There’s a simple way around all of that. We need term limits so the crappy politicians aren’t there more than four maybe eight years. Vote in somebody who cares. Most politicians come in, wanting to do good, but once they’re there, too long, they get corrupted by money. That’s the only way.
