WOW..........that brings back memories.......back in the day as a Chevy dealer Tech I would watch mechanics pull the code and then just go to the bottom of the page in the service manual and order the part, throw it in and blow it out the door........hoping that "WHEN" it came back that the service writer would assign it to someone else......seemed like I was always that "someone else" ! !

I've had that happen quite often to me but usually my manager personally hands it to me either when it comes back a third time. Lol or if that person didn't show up that day or left early.

Electrical isn't hard as long as you understand it, you'll be good at it. I had an apprentice work beside me when I was foreman didn't know any electrical I showed him a few things that made him interested and hes gotten good at it. But I left since I was the guy that usually does them and now thats all they give him and he's not happy.

I remember reading the codes on some older imports via a led built into the ecm housing. obd1 chryslers were key on key off key on key off key on to read codes via check engine light. obd1 fords a test light and iirc obd1 GM's a paperclip and the check engine light.

@@theoffroadingmechanic but what did you make the connector out of? I need to run test on Granddaughters 1994 Accord.

You don't really need to make anything you can just use a simple paper clip to jump the 2 terminals to short out the SCS connector to get the engine light on the dash to flash the codes.
