This video is a little different than what you may be accustomed to on my channel but if you truly love Drag Racing like we do, follow along as I try my best to help save one of my favorite places to race. Edgewater Sports Park in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Edgewater is a gem that only needs opportunity to get over the hump of change. Unlike KilKare that I have gone to since the early 80's and I don't believe is half the track Edgewater is today!

Hey bill I know there's probably 500 messages but if you can check out No Clock Street at Maryland international raceway. Everybody makes 2 test hits Then everybody is divided into 2 classes of 8 depending on how fast they went And the rest go into a third class No time is shown and only 1 person knows what the car's run There is a winner for each class. There is a good showing of cars every thing from 4 to 7 sec 1/8 mile

I volunteer at a race track in Australia 🇦🇺 and I can verify that most people don’t understand that all the equipment needs gas and problems don’t fix themselves, not to forget our glue is around $4k Australian per drum, and people always complain how much things cost without understanding all the little things add up fast, keep these tracks alive people

Everybody needs to start supporting track's b4 they all turn into apartment's. It's sad that when new homes go up near a track ppl want to complain but yet they are the one's that bought a house there. Track's should not have to shut down early bc ppl don't have common sense

I agree it is a sad thing to watch developers muscle tracks out, putting houses along the property. Also, racing ain't cheap. Money ain't worth money at the moment. Tracks will need help just like all the local businesses.

You will do just fine I'm sure. #1 suggestion, keep the drunks out. War in the woods was a fine example of this . I went to the last race and the drunks made it real bad. A lot of people I talked to said they would not be back to that track and I agree I won't go there again . Drinking is fine as long as you don't go crazy, plus I saw lines of speed being done on the hoods of race cares and out in the open smoking meth pipes. Racing does not need that . Just my opinion and yes I drink to but in moderation.

Biketober take over fest pick a weekend in Oct and cater to street bikes everyday bikes to race And do it like we'd night which is usually bike night. In the winter do a drive style movie night in parking lot. Do Christmas lights in Dec. Feb hold a frozen car show and set up a hot chocolate and stands make it A valentines day even Cupids Classic Car Show show all 50s Era baby boomer. Find a local boy scout troop volunteer clean up for badges offer "soap box" event in March and then March madness races for your classes . Ideas hope it helps WE love your track and omg

I still like ducks old school nitrous class. Must be carbed, any nitrous plate only, factory production small block only, stock frame, stock style suspension bolt in options ok, any fuel, any transmission, Fiberglass on hood only , lexan ok for trucks for outriggers cage bars. No awd/4wd, subframe connectors ok, stock full frame otherwise. That'd bring a lot of cars out of the woodworks with the right backing. Or a variation of this. 360 c.i. or smaller can run 275. 360c.i. or bigger limited to 255 tire. 220 treadware minimum.

I have only raced at Edgewater 3 times but I found it to be a great place to race. I wish I lived closer than 2 hours away. It would be a shame if it goes away.

Holy chit! 60 second burnout! And multiple rounds, better bring 2-3 sets of tires! Bill I think it’s really cool doing what you’re doing with the track. It’s kinda like street outlaws where ordinary people could relate to the cars and could have stuff real similar, it was exciting. Then they all went out and got 1/2 million dollar car that are pretty much all the same at it lost it’s luster, with me anyway. People can’t relate to 1/2 million dollar cars, or more. Maybe going back to the roots is the way to pack the pits and the stands. I hope it all works out like it should. As alway, enjoyed the video and gonna look forward to racing you guys one day. 👊🏻

Think about having concerts at some of the races and possibly concerts during the week. I don’t know if the track has enough room, but maybe consider road racing. Keep the track busy.

As someone who lives around 20 minutes away from Edgewater that place is truly special being able to wake up on a Friday and get to go that that place it’s truly amazing to have a race track that close to you. It’s an amazing place I can’t remember one time when I’ve went to watch ether heads up racing or bracket racing there’s ever been a disappointing race. Ever since I was a kid that place has a really special place in my heart and I dont know what I would do if that place closed its a truly special place. Bill I cannot thank you enough for doing this for everyone in the area and the drag racing community ❤

I love EdgeWater. I first went there years ago as a crew member on a dragster and couldn't have felt more welcomed to be there. I have been to several dragstrips and loved the layout of the track with the grass and trees in the pits to the old-school feel up on the line. I hope it stays open for years to come! I know when superchevy comes to Maple Grove. They have like a test in tune or heads up racing for classes. But they also have the car show and and flea market that does very well. I think we need more of that instead of just one time a year.

Here in Colorado we just lost Bandimere. But not due to low attendence......but the property was worth more as a housing develoment than as a race track....so John Bandimere sold us out. Just once, I'd like to see a housing development get torn down to build a race trace!

Sad story LACR one of the only drag strips we had left in Los Angeles county got sold off and be came a gravel pit. There were no more weekends at Bernie’s because the maintenance got the worst of Bernie and he sold it off. Save our race tracks Old Man

South Georgia Motorsport park was supposed to have a big no time event Friday and Saturday but he Hurricane stopped everything so they opened the track up to all the Hydro and electrical guys to stay at while they work on the lines around the The panhandle of Florida into Georgia and thought that cool of them even though I don't live anywhere near there but it's a place that sick week goes to every year.

I used to run sand drags there in the early 80’s, and they also had a major hill climb as well. It was always a wild time back then! They were no asphalt drag strip at all.

Its a hard situation but id say take away all electronic advantages staging advantages and so no one has an advantage leaving the starting line no 2 step trans brake or down track traction control throttle stops ect back in the day if you could get any traction or were a good 4spd shifter you had good chance at winning no good or easy answers

Oh man, the man was in the car sales business before taking over the track. And he has a really pretty grassy pit area. No doubt all that track spraying and scraping and grass cutting equipment to store when not in use. (We do not yet know if he lives on site or not). But if it were my track or he was in the future wanting a site watcher maybe plus an all around racer w/a high level of mechanical and construction abilities w/ a long time 36 yrs. Wife...My dream is to move from N. AZ to the green Cincy, OH area and move right across the street from a Midwest Drag Strip and build a new smaller house and retire and race our Class Car until I am no longer able). Again, were I him I would combine the businesses. A smaller used/new car dealership and possibly private/semi-private track rentals and car dealership Monday-Thursday and hire a couple of car jockeys to spread out the inventory at the end of the weekends and send the inventory to the car corral (a fenced in security area w/ high security), on Thusday night and build a 2-3 Bay shop w/lifts to do repairs of both autos and track equipment next to the car corral. The grassy pit areas would be 1 of the classiest car sales areas probably locally. Does it mean hiring more people, yes probably...but the man has a lot of experience in both businesses and 1 good mechanic, a couple of good car jockeys who can also cut/trim grass and a couple of great car salesman (on commission of course), and income (for the dual use dual purpose facillity), is then raised a bit! Now that was just my 2 cents of an idea, but if he assures he is not going to sell out that track anytime in the near 10 year future or so, and there is a reasonable acre or less of reasonably priced land nearby to the track I can purchase and build a 2 bedroom 2 bath home and shop on, we would sell out here and build there and I would gladly trade machanical/ maint. labor, etc. (Incl. Event work on all the weekends we do not travel to Div./Nat./Bracket weekends as long as can also race my low buck/low maint. Stocker there also). Our plan was to move near (Ike right across the street from), a PA track that is in the middle of 3 NHRA Sanctioned tracks so that we can just retire and race where it is green all around us and the place has 4 seasons (tired of the desert and the heat). The Las Vegas (4 wide strip), rents out their spectator parking areas often (when there are no events at the track of course), for show setup areas of RV Tag type Trailers and Motorhomes etc. Sales on paved surfaces. One week they are there for a huge RV sale, and a week later they are gone. Just attempting to add ideas as Edgewater from what I have seen so far is a great track, and I would do anything short of investing actual dollars (I would gladly invest my time though, and I have a lot of that to give), to help it survive, as long as he maintains his commitment not to dump it and sell out another great drag racing facility in the US. (Too many great tracks have folded and sold out during my lifetime. This 1 has to stay!)

Great ideas in the comments I say go back to your roots in bring in concerts,car shows drive in movie events and decent payout bracket racing I know 13-14 second runs aren't super exciting but the thing I love about bracket is a 14 second car can win the finals against a 9 second car.The other thing is most tracks my own local track New England Dragway doesn't have alot of street bike races.How about bracket streetbikes? Harley vs.import,etc $250 to win the final? Real streetbikes and a second class for race bikes.Back to cars hard tire dial in bracket,radial,and slick tube frame.A reasonable buy in like a wed or fri. Say $25-$30 with a $100 runner up and a $250 payout to win your final.If I could run my slow ass mustang gt. Which knocks out 13.0h's all night and possibly come home with $100-$250 win.Shit I'd be there every week just for the fun of it.I know alot of people hate bracket but this is what's gonna save tracks and bring people in..Imagine mom's jeep grand Cherokee goes four five rounds and you get $ and a class winner decal..C'mon now.lol

I'd like to see a classic muscle car shootout! Factory muscle cars from the 60's and 70's. There's a ton of guys with old Chevrolets, Mopar, and Fords that want to show how fast they are. No power adders just factory muscle. Imagine old 427 chevelles taking on hemi cars, or old Fairlanes racing Bel Airs and Belvederes. That would draw some car show guys and racing fans.

Man this takes me back I was all ways hanging out there on just about any given weekend in the 70's . back when you could see drivers there like John Force, Sherly Muldowney, Kenny Brunstein and many more. Back when the cars had names like the Chy town hustler , The Blue Max, Preparation H , The Snake & the Mongoose , Jungle Jim and so many more that I can't remember them all now days. Man those were the days !

Shorten the curve to best suit drivability for the car weight and gear DON'T LOCK OUT! That is for a race car that leaves the line always above 3,000 RPM. It will detonate and also cause engine to run hotter.
