As a New Orleanian this brings me right back to the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. Finding yourself and your neighbors belongings in the mud. Seeing seagrass on the tops of pilings with nothing on it where your home was. The only thing left of my friend’s place was a pool ball. The worst part is “IF” your insurance pays you back, they won’t let you rebuild in that area because they won’t insure that area anymore.

Another fine example of the Arrington family spreading love and support to others. Schooled in industrial design I often try to think of solutions, and while living in the keys years ago, I thought of a home built from shipping containers that would be elevated on cement posts. 4 containers could be attached end to end in a square with an outdoor deck in the center. Let’s build one together. Could be a giant business. Continued strengthen honor my friend .

I spent my entire military career in the National Guard, I remember vividly the destruction that Katrina left in LA. As part of the MD Search and Recovery team, assisting in the recovery efforts was eerie, and something I will always remember. The feeling inside seeing things you weren’t ready to see, the odd noiseless environment and the non activity from animals were something out of this world. Feeling bad was an understatement and all I wanted to do is help everyone but the mission was to rescue and provide humanitarian relief to as many as we could. Thank you Gabe for the transparency you’ve shown in this video. I hope everyone can help since unfortunately disasters is what brings much of this country together.

Gabe, my heart goes out to all of the people affected by the storm. Back in '92 I organized 17 people to go down to homestead after Andrew. My boss donated 500 gallons of bottled water, my neighbor was the general manager for Penske trucks in Bradenton and donated a 24-foot box truck. We took all kinds of supplies Plus I took 15 Carpenters with me and the lumber package to do makeshift shelters to help people outside of homestead. When living in South Sarasota we were supposed to get hit with hurricane Charley and it all of a sudden cut in at Port Charlotte. I ended up going down for a couple weekends to volunteer with a chainsaw and hooked up with another guy so we could get trees out of people's driveways so that they could get somewhere to get food and water. Up here in the mountains in Murphy we dodged a bullet because the storm went right over us. From the next county North all the way up past Asheville they ended up on the right hand side of the storm and the devastation is just unreal. At 65 years old, I can't volunteer anymore with health issues that I have but I wish I could be there to help out some of these people that have nothing left. Our government doesn't seem to be doing much as FEMA had just come in this last Thursday. Reports from people say that FEMA looked like deer in headlights, not knowing what to do first. I sincerely hope they get their act together but so far it's been friends helping friends and volunteers coming in from all over. May God bless them that they can recover from this.

I was in my tandem and literally my truck shaking that day from wind and I was in the opposite side of the Island!! Have faith Malama each other!! Just like you doing are blue Gabe and the rest of them locals are doing!!is exactly what the locals did in Hawaii!! Stay blessed out there!!🤙🏽🤙🏽

My cousin was killed in the line of duty in Taylor County, those guys in that sheriff's office are awesome and don't play when protecting locals.

BG thanks for sharing this! Heart and Prayers go out to the peeps of this devastation. 20 Year Marine here that served 11 of those year all over the Pacific and lived through some Gnarly typhoons. I'm always in awe when I hop on my bike and head down to FL and coastal regions and don't see houses made of solid reinforced cement on pillars like overseas in the Pacific. I know it's not the norm here in the US, but after having large steel objects slam into my cement house in Okinawa during a monstrous Typhoon and hearing them bounce off, I'm a fan now. Were I in this situation, I'd check some of those houses out and consider them. Again, Thanks for the Vid and here's to the health and recovery of all these hurricanes victims.

Yep, we evacuated from Steinhatchee! We spent the last year rehabbing the town, Crabby Dads and rooms at Fiddlers….all gone now and so many more! Our hearts are broken! We live on wheels so we escaped but, our friends didn’t fair well! 💔. Finally cried some tears…I think the reality is finally setting in! 😫

Gabe, here on Guam, we got some super Typhoons that devastated our islands in the previous years and it would take months to recover. Power and water would be a struggle for many. So i pray that the good lord would bless everyone whos been effected from the hurricane by making sure they be able to recover soon if not sooner. Thank you for sharing this tragic video and kudos to You, Ms. Crystal, Jake and Luke.. Take care!

Is that cedar key
@genliz40742 ай бұрын
@karenneal1390 no, cedar island is a community between Keaton Beach and Steinhatchee.

@@genliz4074 thank you. I visited cedar key a few years ago and loved that adorable place. Please stay safe with these horrible hurricanes coming in.
@genliz40742 ай бұрын
@karenneal1390 I will, as I'm fortunately in the panhandle, but thank you. Cedar Key was hit though. I only saw their Downtown street on news and it was bad, but it's close enough I bet alot of neighborhoods had damage. I'm not sure if they had large losses of homes but I'm sure if you search KZbin you could find some on the ground footage. Yes, the entire coast is filled with little hidey hole towns and I love visiting them. Trying to get to as many lighthouses as possible before the hurricanes take them. For now, I'll just send bar oil and lend a hand when I can. I hate some of the same places are taking a double whammy right now

My cousin's house on Dark Island vanished, it was probably one of the debris piles you pointed out on the NE side of the road.

Hurricane Michael took everything we had in our town as well. 100 year old school. House after house. It seems likely it won’t happen but it will eventually get better. It took forever but we are here. Prayers up.

My brother in law and his family live in Steinhatchee , where they operated Craig Sea Gull Motel and Fish Camp since 1973 when his parents moved there . I haven't spoken to him in years but just Googled and found out his mom Helen passed away last spring , and the motel is closed . They were the kind of people that probably everyone who lives there knows them . David's father James married his mom Helen when she was 13 , and one of thereasons I love your mom so much is because she reminds me of Helen Craig . May she RIP . Was thinking I'd like to move from Georgia to Florida , but after watching your video I'm not so sure . God Bless you for caring and helping your friends .

I’m from near New Orleans. Me and my church group went to Panama after being devastated by a hurricane. Y’all were truly amazing as many had lost so much, but we found courageous, humble people. We so enjoyed cooking, providing hot meals. Those in the Southeast understand what hurricanes do. Praying for everyone affected.

am from arizona, have no firsthand experience with hurricanes, but seeing the stories from this storm for some reason has been quite moving. seems a lot of people really lost a lot. watching cleetus' video taking his new heli up to NC to help with supplies gives me hope tho. the internet and people social platforms can really be of help nowadays. sending love to all

Thanks. From East TN here, this hurricane kicked our butts, no joke. No-one has seen. Flooding here like this. fEMA wasnt out here for the first couple of days(i guess that is normal) so people started doing clean up by themselves. Still have a bunch of people missing.

I live in Arizona too. I know we all face potential hazards living where we do. Here in Phoenix, Arizona there is high heat, fire and Microbursts. Any coastal home faces flood and hurricane's, In the Midwest there are tornados & flooding, West coast has earthquakes and fire, Northern areas have extreme cold and snow! Its sad to see the "after" of any disaster but I'm glad there are good people wiling to help others out in time of need. Stay strong and always remember - Mother Nature ALWAYS wins!
