I just bought one for my solo travels. Super helpful to see you do this by yourself, thank you!

Thanks for the step by step! And I agree with the screen mesh it could get muddy and damaged. Over all good job 👏 thanks

I like checking out recent reviews now and again. Yours is fantastic! I bought mine 2 years ago. I’ve used it just a handful of times, but the convenience of being able to set up camp in the bed of my truck pretty much anywhere is worth every penny. Thanks again for your excellent review!!

I carry a little piece of indoor / outdoor carpet with me to lay over the screen when it’s down to protect it. I actually cut a whole piece of that carpet that I put in the floor of the tent as well. It makes a nice bit of cushion. I have the blue sportz version and the connecting ground tent. No complaints with it. Rain, snow, wind or whatever. It seems to take it. I love it. You’ll enjoy yours as well.

I’ve used mine several times this summer and so far it seems to be holding up well. I like your idea of using the piece of carpet…I’ll have to try that one. Thanks for the feedback.

Thank you for the content! I got one of these back when I got my '07 Tacoma and the tent has been in the shed untouched for the last 12 years or so! I'm looking to adventure again...was wondering if you run into issue where you want to use your truck for a quick run and take the tent off and put back on while erected? If so how was that process for you? Thanks!

No, I have not tried to take the tent off while erected and place it back on. I don’t think it would be very easy because of all the tie down straps especially the tail gate straps might be hard to remove. I have not tried driving with the tent set up, but at low speed (say within a provincial park, heading to the wood shed and back) it would probably be possible.

Good morning Wayne. Nice review. What advantages do you see with a truck tent over just setting up a regular tent on the site?
@TheOneCanoe
@TheOneCanoe 3 ай бұрын
I think the main advantage is it gets you up, off the ground. You have a level, stable floor with no twigs or stones poking you from below. There is probably less chance of crawling insects getting in and around your tent and in my case, my truck has a power outlet at the back of the box so I can be charging a phone or camera battery while in the tent.

@@TheOneCanoe downside is a tent on the ground can be left behind when you do multi day camping at the same site, car one has to be set up every time again. The ones that can be mounted to the roof/truckbed and spring with less set-up time would be somewhat faster and safe time (hard to air out and more weight/less aerodynamic as cons).

@@mickeytadadam All valid points. Certainly you want to choose a tent based on your needs. The main reason I purchased a truck tent was for an upcoming long distance road trip down east, where we would be stopping and camping along the way and avoiding expensive motels.

@theonecanoe where did you connect the middle straps? I have the camo version, but it’s built the same. Only place I could find to connect was the leaf springs, LOL!
@TheOneCanoe
@TheOneCanoe 15 күн бұрын
On my Tacoma the middle straps slide into the wheel well, but not directly on the top as there is no anchor point there, it’s kinda off to the side where the fender has a small gap, just big enough for the strap clip to hold.

@@TheOneCanoe I’ll look for it. Are you clipping on to the plastic, or metal?

I've seen complaints about poles breaking what are you thoughts and opinion about poles? And could a senior couple be able to set up.
@TheOneCanoe
@TheOneCanoe 15 күн бұрын
I’ve had no issue with the poles. Just go slow and take your time making sure all the poles are firmly connected together. If they are loose it could ‘extend’ the length of the pole making it harder to connect the ends. I always set it up myself and have no problems… with two people it will be much easier.
