Selfishly I want him to just be good enough to compete in these tournaments he's managing to play. But reality is he's not competitive and I am starting to agree with what your saying. I think it's really hard for him to accept it

Nothing to do with ego he just enjoys competing. He knows it will be too cold and he's going to struggle but he's earned the right to be there and fans LOVE to see him in person. Don't forget Trevino suffered horribly with multiple injuries and was written off by everyone but his wife and unexpectedly won a major.
