If Tyrion used to have dragon dreams a lot when he was little, but not so much as he grew up…could there possibly be dragon eggs hidden somewhere at Casterly Rock? I ask because Danny had her first dream when she came into the same vicinity as her eggs.
@nisa185082 жыл бұрын
I thought the same. And maybe he started to get interested in dragons because of his dreams

Cersei also drew pictures of herself with Rhaegar on a dragon when she was a child, I think it hints at dragon dreams as well.

I've heard so many people complain that if Tyrion actually is a Targaryen it would ruin the entire Tywin/Tyrion story arc because if Tywin's suspicions about Tyrion's parentage were correct his mistreatment of him would be justified. I think it makes perfect sense that Tywin acted as he did and also reveals his critical weakness. If he had killed Tyrion at birth or disowned him later he would have basically confirmed that he believed Tyrion was Aery's son. But his arrogance and ego wouldn't allow him to admit to himself or anyone else that HIS wife died giving birth to another man's son. He always claimed Tyrion as his son publicly because in his mind it was better to be the father of a dwarf than a cuckold. He never expressed his doubts to anyone other than Tyrion, and only then because he wanted to punish him. I think he was more angry at himself for allowing the lie to stand than he was at Tyrion. He wanted Tyrion dead but was too concerned about his precious image to do it himself, so he kept putting Tyrion in situations where he was likely be killed. He had employed this tactic many times as a way of ridding himself of his enemies while keeping his own hands clean. The problem was that Tryion somehow always managed to survive. Tywin wouldn't allow anyone in the immediate family (i.e. Cersei, Joffrey) to summarily execute Tyrion because everyone knew he was the real power behind the Lannister family and would have assumed the order came from him. I think he would have allowed Tyrion to take the black just to prop up the illusion that he was extending lenancy to his son. His fatal mistake was underestimating Tyrion. Fans often argue that Tyrion must be Tywin's son because he's most like him. While I agree with the resemblance I see it more as a case of nurture winning out o 36:09 ver nature. Not only is Tyrion the most intelligent of the Lannister children by far, he is also the one most invested in winning Tywin's favor. It just makes sense that he would have spent more time disecting Tywin's behavior and trying to emulate him. I find it very poetic that the one enemy Tywin was unwilling to dispatch ruthlessly is the one responsible for his ultimate death and downfall.

Im enjoying these breakdowns more and more each week. Seeing a lot of how the characters personal journeys of growth or break down into who they become is super refreshing. Tyrion especially as he goes down an especially dark route. Glad I finnaly got the show versions out of my mind as they made a lot of the cast either too likable regardless of horrible actions or too simple as a result like the stark guys.

Tyrion's "not me" line teared me up on a reread, after knowing all that Tyrion has been through before the story even began. Great episode. I'm enjoying your rereads. Ned, Viserys and Tyrion all describe the dragon skulls in these early chapters as though the dragons are alive and watching. But it has a different tone and meaning for each person. The story shows a rule of engagement. The way something is presented to the reader, even the tone of it, is shaped by the way the character perceives it. And different characters can perceive the same thing differently, or even in the same way but with different tone and subtext. What do you think it is about dragons that attracts Tyrion? Or what do you think it is about Tyrion that attracts him to dragons?

I feel that another point about Tyrion giving all this dragon lore and history (Field of fire etc), besides his probable hidden lineage which only becomes a point later once we get more backstory, is firstly to introduce him as a knowledgeable character who is casually familiar with a wide range of information, and even things that are not directly tied to his House. This along with him reading the book and talking about how his mind is his strength established him from early on as a clever and curious person, who is always seeking to learn more (further illustrated by his journey to the Wall to see new places). It’s a very good writing that all these traits about Tyrion’s character, and how the reader should think of him when moving on to future chapters, are given both directly from his words and indirectly from his thoughts and exposition on the world building early on.

Do you know Illyrio Mopatis, Magister of Pentos? For my wedding, he gave me three petrified dragon eggs. He believed - the world believed - that the ages had turned them to stone. How many centuries has it been since dragons roamed the skies? But I dreamt that if I carried those eggs into a great fire, they would hatch! When I stepped into the fire, my own people thought I was mad! But when the fire burned out, I was unhurt! The Mother of Dragons! Do you understand? I'm no ordinary woman. My dreams come true.

Tywin is sterile. My guess is he had an injury during the War of the Ninepenny Kings and only Aerys knew about it. The World of Ice and Fire makes it pretty obvious that Aerys fathered the other two Lannisters. This dirty little secret is why Tywin tolerated Aerys's 💩 for 20 years. Joanna Lannister was Tywin's first cousin.

Wow…. I thought this was an older video but when I heard D said that he thinks Tyrion is a Targaryen I looked and it says 11 days ago… I’m just a little surprised he is staying with the idea/theory that he’s actually a Targaryen… I’m not sure. I know there’s a lot of coincidental things in play that suggests so but I think he’s a Lannister.
@TheOrderoftheGreenhand2 жыл бұрын
Tyrion has Targaryen platinum blonde hair, was born the year that followed his mother’s visit to kings landing that resulted in the king thinking Tywin was going to kill him, and Tywin straight up said he lacked the means of proving Tyrion wasn’t his. You view all of that as a mere coincidence?

Today's Not A Blog post from GRRM has truly saddened my soul more than any one before it. I find myself getting more annoyed by announcements of even more spinoffs than excited, and that's sad to me. I love this world.. But... He's never going to finish the original story and that is causing me to lose interest more and more.. At this point, it is almost a certainty that A Dream of Spring will never be finished.. (Unless somehow he's writing them both 🤷 but I doubt that).. That's hard enough to come to terms with but if Winds isn't going to be released, then I'm feeling a little sour to the spinoffs because as much as I love the world building in ASOIAF, none of it matters if the ORIGINAL story that started it all never gets finished... Sorry about the rant lol!.. Literally no one in my "real life" reads ASOIAF andI needed to vent somewhere..😒

I've read the entire catalogue 3 times, and I always find that I miss little details and the nuance really starts to present itself after every reading. As I become more familiar with the characters, locations, and timeline, I always get a missing puzzle piece that I didn't know I needed, but accents the already amazing writing. So, my question, are you doing this in order from the literature? I would love to hear what others took away from a chapter so I can get a different perspective

It's really not that far fetched that a dog or wolf or wolf hybrid which I have one of. He's a 147 lb gentle giant named Damon slobertore after Damon from the vampire diaries due to his gorgeous blue eyes and huge fangs. He's solid white could have played ghost of he was born back then lol. However I had a friend that was betraying me and stealing my ADHD and anxiety pills and I didn't know it yet and he came over and Damon growled and went at him and he's never done that to anyone, that was when I started suspecting him of my missing pills right as he was attacking him and it was true. My service dog Eden a gorgeous blue eyed wheat and white German shepherd also always knows my emotions and even when I don't want to be bothered she'll lead my husband out of the room and comes back to see if it's ok for her to cuddle with me. If not she'll try again until I do but she usually always knows when I'm pissed she won't even come around me lol. I'm never made at her though she's the best behaved.
