You used The Organic chemistry tutor when you were 6 years old back in grade 1???????? That must be wrong because he is only meant to be used by high school students and college students and maybe middle school students but never elementary school students.

So let me get this straight, Pure Substances cannot be Mixtures, but Mixtures can be Pure Substances for there can be a Mixture of Elements or a Mixture of Compounds. It's just that they're not connected and can physically because separated.

The only addition you should make between compounds and mixture is that one has a molecular bond and the other does not. You can loose/gain an electron or you can share electrons

Purpose of Classification of Matter The classification of matter is essential in chemistry and physics as it helps to: Organize and categorize the vast diversity of substances found in nature. Identify and distinguish between different substances based on their properties. Understand the behavior, composition, and characteristics of various substances. Simplify the study of matter by grouping similar substances together. Facilitate communication among scientists and researchers. Types of Classification There are several ways to classify matter, including: Physical Classification: Based on physical properties, such as state (solid, liquid, gas), density, melting point, and boiling point. Chemical Classification: Based on chemical composition and properties, such as acidity, basicity, and reactivity. Biological Classification: Based on the origin and function of substances in living organisms. Most Widely Used Classification: Physical Classification The most widely used classification of matter is based on physical properties, which categorizes matter into: 1. States of Matter: Solids: Have a fixed shape and volume, with particles closely packed (e.g., rocks, metals). Liquids: Have a fixed volume but take the shape of their container, with particles relatively free to move (e.g., water, oil). Gases: Neither have a fixed shape nor volume, with particles widely spaced and free to move (e.g., air, helium). 2. Types of Mixtures: Elements: Pure substances consisting of only one type of atom (e.g., hydrogen, oxygen). Compounds: Pure substances formed by chemical bonding between different elements (e.g., water, carbon dioxide). Mixtures: Physical combinations of two or more substances (e.g., air, seawater). Solutions: Homogeneous mixtures of two or more substances (e.g., sugar water, saltwater). 3. Composition: Pure Substances: Have a fixed composition and properties (e.g., elements, compounds). Impure Substances: Have varying composition and properties (e.g., mixtures). This physical classification provides a fundamental framework for understanding the properties and behavior of various substances, making it a crucial tool in scientific inquiry and research.

What's the difference between compounds and mixture?

a compound is one molecule that has multiple different types of atoms chemically bonded. a mixture can have compounds AND singular atoms mixed together. compounds are pure substances and mixtures are not pure substances.

Please excuse my ignorance, what is the purpose of this classification? What are other classifications? This would have been a good starting point so that we avoid trying to memorise the classification and instead understand it deeper.
