Hey, I’d like to ask about Cl. Why didn’t we include it in the reaction ?
@kosardhashemi2 жыл бұрын
yeah i got lost there and on 4
@maxymtaras24642 жыл бұрын
I guess the general gist of it is that Cl is a spectator ion because the compound is a salt, so its kinda like the water where you can ignore it because it would be important. However yeah still a bit confusing on when or when not does this happen.

You can calculate 1-4 much faster using pH = (-log(Ka)-log([HA])/2 Alternatively you get pOH for Kb: pH = 14 - pOH and Ka = 10^-14/Kb

if you do use this method wont the values be different from the ICE table (because in ICE we ignore the -x)?

Could you please make a video for solving the Systematic Treatment of Equilibrium?
@joyofliving53528 ай бұрын
Hi teacher, could you do a tutorial for relationship between ionic strength and pka for weak electrolytes (including biological environments)? There's this consensus that an activity coefficient is required in practical terms to be able to calculate dissociation equilibrium constant - as solution departs from ideal behaviour. If you can derive the equations and do few examples, and indicate when low or high ionic strength may or may not affect pKa or pH, that's helpful.

I just have one question in mind, at what Ka value is it considered to be a weak or strong acid?
@kyzola5697 ай бұрын
When Ka is greater than 1, it is a strong acid because that means the numerator is larger than the denominator, so there is more ionization, so the acid is stronger

I will never understand, as going for a BA for mechanical engineering, computer science, and even physical therapy, we are required to learn all these concepts of chemistry! Do they teach chemistry majors engineering math? Or computer coding? Or other non related classes to those wanting to be chemists? Why is chemistry so important EVERY other STEM major must learn it? I will NEVER use these concepts! But thank you for these videos, only way I'm getting through chemistry 2 just so I can forget it forever.

Thanks a million for this video. But you didn't explain why Na in NaF is a spectator ion
@handersonhasseth132 Жыл бұрын
You want to write an ionic equation and then a net ionic equation. Once you get it, you will see that Na+ is going to be on both sides of the equation and thus, it cancels out.

I have a question for you. A student adds a rectangular block of mass 26.10 g to a graduated cylinder initially filled with 40.1 of water, but some water splashes out of the cylinderAs a result, the student reads the new level of the water to be 42.7 Previously, the student had measured the length width and height of the block to be 3.0 cm by cm by cm. Does the splash cause the density of the block to be reported as too high or too low, compared to the density calculated from the volume from length measurements? Explain your answer
