The best way for one who is interested in Thucydides and has got a substantial knowledge of ancient Greek history is to read Thucydides by oneself!

I won't contest that he knows his material, but he's the hardest man to listen to that I've ever found. Listening to this is more akin to a chore than a lecture on strategy. None the less, I still like the video.

How come the military is filled with all these bright chaps and we still lose wars?

Just to help for those watching that watching that haven't had the privilege and honor to serve in the military with it's many acronyms. I think the reference to SRT stated I think means but correct me if I'm wrong the following. I found the first definition a little comical. 1.) Situation Reaction Test: A psychological test that measures an individual's ability to make quick and logical decisions. It's a key part of psychological testing in the military. 2.) Soldier Readiness Test: A six-event test that measures a soldier's ability to perform in combat. The test is gender-neutral and pass/fail. It measures a soldier's fitness in areas such as explosive strength, cardiovascular endurance, and muscular endurance.

Tonya you may want to learn about geopolitics instead of projecting domestic policy ideas on to foreign policy. Power and economics dominate foreign policy/geopolitics.
