I would buy lift pads for the pinch welds and those hockey puck pads that screw into the frame on the front,where you used the jack, and jack from the pinch welds and place jack stands where the black hockey pucks are on the rear and front (after install).
@ronbo4223 жыл бұрын
I hate asphalt (it compresses slightly) because floor jacks won't roll on it very easily, especially with a load. I noticed that your jack wasn't rolling under the car, like it should, on the first rear lift. It was actually pulling the car to it, which is sketch factor 9.5!! With the fronts already on the stands, the car basically made a twisting motion, being pulled towards the drivers-side-rear. Afterwards, I would've gone back to the front, taken each side up just slightly and repositioned the stands...to alleviate any tension between the car and stands. Thanks for the video!!
@TheOriginalBeeCee3 жыл бұрын
I actually did have to do that. But really you shouldn’t have too. That driveway was sketch 19.5, hence the reason. If you can’t tell from the vid, its on a pretty nice slant. But truly, you shouldn’t have to adjust if you are on a nice sturdy flat surface. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, work with what you got to work with!

Thanks man. For some reason my charger doesn’t have that rubber thing for the jack in the back, but it has a big welded metal bar in front of the differential, so use that to lift the car.
@elmarito0073 жыл бұрын
DO NOT USE THAT METAL BAR TO JACK THE CAR UP!!!! It is not connected to the metal frame of the car, so you are risking to damage something important like the differential. Use the knuckle that connects the rear wheels arms with the differential, it’s strong enough to hold the whole weight of the car.

Awesome video bro. Most of us are familiar with working on our cars doing minor shtuff like changing a flat tire, draining the differential fluid, brakes, etc, but Many are not and don't have a hydraulic jack. Can you make a video using the jack that is provided by the manufacturer, along with the donut (spare) please? You don't need to include the jack stands. I'd make a video, but I'm disabled, but I know it really would be helpful to most people, especially to a woman who is independent and would like to conquer changing a flat, herself. Tks!

Appreciate the comment! I surely wouldn’t mind making a video like that…but this isn’t my vehicle…I just did some jobs to it and decided to make some videos where I could. When I get an opportunity to work on another Challenger I will definitely see if I can make a video like that 👍

You should put a cloth on top of the Jack stand too to protect the pinch weld too.
@TheOriginalBeeCee Жыл бұрын
I’m not opposed to that, and if it makes you feel better, then go for it…I’m all for it. But personally, I’ve never really found a need to in many years of jacking vehicles. The pressure and force is coming from the floor-jack itself, and the jack is what could potentially slip/move and cause scratching, etc. that’s what needs to be protected and why I utilize a microfiber/protection on the jack itself. I barely leave a half-inch between the jack stand and pinch weld when lower the car onto the stand, as you can see @ 2:11 in the video, so the chances of any damage are extremely minimal. One of these days if I’m not to cheap or lazy I might just buy the rubber covers for the stands which I think look legit I’m just cheap and really haven’t found a need for them.

Like you stated, that rear jack point wont work for most people due to most floor jacks not being that narrow. No room to get the jackstand in the correct spot.

that " donut cylinder" holds up a flap there about 12 x 5...how do I know? I ran over a curb and sheared it off, causing that rubber flap piece to drop down!😅 So yes. its very crushable..be careful lol....Btw if anyone knows the proper name for that piece I'd like to know. Great vid..we had to jack up my Chally to install caliper covers....

I thought the jack stands go where you lifted the car up on that triangle?
@TheOriginalBeeCee2 жыл бұрын
I mean you could put a stand there if needed. But the pinch weld on the rail isn’t really ideal for a garage floor jack. The rail is more design for a jack stand, whereas you have a better floor jack point at the triangle/oval behind the rail. Unless you have a floor jack adapter for the rail, a big circular plate of a floor jack could potentially damage the rail if you wanted to do this opposite way that i did. As long as you have a slim profile jack, this is definitely the easiest and most efficient way to get it on jack stands.
@gregwadsworth93312 жыл бұрын
The pinch weld is for the average consumer, to use the jack provided by the manufacturer, to change a flat, to put on their spare.

I’ve jacked the front of my challenger a few times, but once or twice I’ve notice that after one jackstand is in place and I’m jacking the other side, the set Jack starts to tilt inward. Any advice?
@TheOriginalBeeCee4 жыл бұрын
Chris Shannon hey whats up man. Just for reference, this isn’t my car. But I’ve had it jacked up at least 5-7 times, and I actually had that issue once when jacking this car. I just let the jack back down, and went back to the other side and readjusted the side that was titling, and it was fine when I went back to the other side again and started jacking. But the last time I jacked the car up though I actually had 2 low-pro jacks, I had one on each side, and you can almost simultaneously jack each side bouncing back and forth, and it was perfect when I did that.

I’ve seen a lot of posts from people freaking out about damaging the pinch welds this way, but I don’t see any alternative with the jacks I have. Have yours held up jacking the car many times this way?
@TheOriginalBeeCee Жыл бұрын
This actually is not my vehicle. But i did a few jobs on it and had it in the air multiple times. Ive also jacked a Scat Pack. Never had any issues. The only potential issue I saw is what I noted in the video, which is that donut cylinder. That thing definitely seems like it can be suspect, but as far as the pinch welds they worked perfectly for me.

@TheOriginalBeeCee4 жыл бұрын
Nostalgic Shark3 hey whats up man. You could get away with doing it the opposite way. Although, in my opinion I believe the rails design is a better fit for the stands. I would also be careful jacking from the rails with an actual garage floor jack. But it could definitely work done correctly.

Yea, I lived the wood days for a while on prior cars with coils, and just working on different low cars. There are some pretty nice low pro jacks out there now, I got one not too long ago that I can get under mostly everything.

@kelvinbrown42743 жыл бұрын
That won't work on a hellcat, it's too low. You need a special jack or jack it up back first. Also, it may just be me but I really don't like jacking up one side at a time as opposed to rear to front.
@TheOriginalBeeCee3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I’ve never had the pleasure of jacking a Hellcat. Although, you could definitely roll over some boards to give you the clearance you need. I work on a lot of lowered cars and thats how I gain easy access on one to jack. And I agree, I don’t typically just jack one side up at a time, hence why I jacked the front up first, then the rear of the car, in the video.
