Pity the government has open borders and floods our nation with unidentified, illegal potential terrorists and criminals, which nullifies any basic security the armed forces are supposedly maintaining. We are not safe no matter what they do if our borders are open, criminals enter freely, and disappear into the cities. Security , safety and defence of the UK and its PEOPLE are the primary duty of government and they all fail to do so. I agree with you that on face value they are there to defend us but security begins in our sea areas then our borders and when the enemy is allowed in freely we are NOT safe. If it wasn't so heavily guarded it would be a prime target for a terrorist attack. Most of the Queens guards have seen active combat , they are soldiers doing a job. The horses shouldn't need to be guarded , there's signage and barriers to keep tourists away but unfortunately people don't have the brains and manners to respect someone doing their job.

They are at Horse Guards not Kings Guards Parade there is no such place ! No regiments called Kings Guards either , The two regiments of The Household Cavalry , Life Guards and Blues and Royals when on duty are known as The Kings Lifeguards .
