To have this amount of psychological understanding you must have spent years establishing your spirit and mindset. "One on one I can hold my own, but I'm out here fighting like I'm Al Capone". That line in particular carried a lot of meaning recently. I hit a rough patch at work. I just seemed to keep messing up. One on one, I could hold my own, but during that time, I felt like I was fighting like Al Capone: one long struggle with the world coming down around you.

The lyrics of World Keeps Spinning & RX (Medicate) have taken on a new meaning as the tumultuous year of 2020 has progressed. I graduated college in May of this year. As could be expected, I did not have a commencement ceremony or a celebration dinner with friends and family. Once the pandemic hit, these lyrics took on more and more meaning. "I miss my mom, I miss my friends, I miss it all, but in the end the world keeps spinning" mean a whole lot to me personally when you are ready to begin your professional life, only to be blindsided by a global pandemic. Other lyrics such as "body aching from all the stress, yeah I'm dead inside, my skin a mess" and "home alone is when it hurts the most, floating through life like a fucking ghost" also mean a great deal to me. Theory has done an excellent job capturing the feelings of a great many people during these uncertain times.

Albeit in the same poppy direction which Theory have unfortunately adopted, I have to admit that the vocals are way much better than those of the other songs and remind a bit of old TOAD. If it had a guitar solo instead of whistles, it would be a decent and tolerable pop-rock song, from my point of view.

I think they're just trying something new. It can be exhausting doing the same thing over and over. I've enjoyed every song so far.
@dimpap4444 жыл бұрын
@@AMRedwood I see what you mean, but I didn't insinuate that I want them to do the same thing over and over. To my mind, when a band is self-defined as a rock band, it should maintain some rudimentary elements in its songs (hard vocals, guitars, riffs) while incorporating new trends. If I wanted to listen to pop/RnB songs, I would listen to Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons etc., not Theory Of A Deadman. Therefore, I am not negative to the evolution of a rock band as long as its rock identity doesn't disappear.
