I'd be very interested to see you analyse the differences between Male and Female body structures for parkour, as we kinda just train and teach everyone in the same methods. But I'm curious if there are injuries women are more prone to develop due to being taught to move by male coaches who base their teaching on personal experience (usually male dominated). Or maybe there is no real difference that requires any varied action in coaching or training style? For example, do the different hip shapes and upper body mass distributions between men and women mean a female should learn a slightly different cat-pass technique to that of her male peers? I wonder if a tweak in teaching girls will help unlock bigger cat-passes for that side of the community, or even improve injury prevention? I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts and see your research on this topic as it potentially has massive benefits for coaching the many young girls who are now joining our community more and more. Big fan.

i found a quick video about differences in the roll i'll link it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6fPcp9mibulqac main point is: because generally speaking women tend to have longer legs than torso (compared to men) slant your rolls more may work better! hope this helps you

There's measurable differences between men and women especially for center of mass. Additionally, there are different societal pressures on women regarding bodies and movement. However, lots of people can't handle a rational, scientific discussion about this at this time. It's a disservice to women learning parkour and keeps female participation levels low.

Mesomorph for pretty much anything requiring explosive ballistic movements. Same applies in bboying/breakdancing. Lower center of gravity is always the best for flow.

This was very interesting I’m 6’4 I have a wingspan of 6’5 and long legs and over the past year and a half my style really shifted from a very flip heavy style to mostly training techy climbs and I’ve found that I can use my size as an advantage on climbs being able to reach things that I otherwise couldn’t if I was smaller

At 37, starting to add some basic parkour to my workout routine, I'm constantly mindful of what my body is doing (and especially my joints). Getting to see some of the underlying biology of the sport has been really helpful and reassuring.

Very interesting topic. My personal preference is short but stocky. I think that build works great for both flips and also powerful explosive movements within parkour, people like George are a great example :D Things like wallruns and laches are a lot harder to do though

I'm 5'11 And my leg to torso ratio is pretty balanced actually. I have longish legs but not super long. So I can make bigger and further jumps while using less power. I think being 5'11 Is a good height.

Maaan ive got a big torso and also big legs. I always wanted to do super high flips but cuz of my big ass legs my center of graviti is actually not that high. Maybe i should do powerlifting or something... jk i love parkour & freerunning too much hehe but definetly should start doing some deadlifts as well :D anyway... great content as always, looking forward for more!!

Hi Theo, appreciate all the lessons. Is it also possible that having shorter legs allow them to be tucked more easily and maybe this can serve as an advantage for clearing more distance in a jump? Personally, I have comparatively short legs to torso with wide shoulders and long arms but can leap far and high. The long arms help generate extra momentum through the movement as well would you agree?
@leslaw19792 жыл бұрын

@WitchellTraining2 жыл бұрын
When training people in winter here in UK I often tell people to keep their hands out of their pockets to encourage movement and get out of 'duvet' mode. It really helps! Pockets are a sort of hiding place from the world.

Hello I was trying to find somebody who can teach me how to plyo properly as well as how to standing pre. My standing pre has reached 9ft in 7 months of training but i still want to improve so i can do more difficult things and have more fun coz i have more options opening to me. So the question is how to transfer momentum that you gained running into a plyo. How to control the landing. How to jump further from a standing pre(any exercise or just training tech). How long would it take to improve in gaining distance. I know it takes a lot of time but sometimes i think bad of my self coz my standing pre stood the same. I just need a confirmation of a pro about tge last question

rate my physique from 1 to 10 for parkour: 1.85m, 93kg, wide back, broad shoulders, big ass chest, long legs, very long arms, big chunky thighs, springy calves with high insertions but not that skinny. Im interested in opinions.
@alexandreruedapayen9633 Жыл бұрын
Hey man, I am in a parkour club. I live in Paris. People are way shorter than the average in Parkour and also very lean. I am 1.86m for 72.5kg with narrow bones. I d say that I am just slightly under average in terms of BMI but in terms of height I am definitely in the top 5%. My feet size is 44 in EU measure or 10.5 for the US, which is again very large compared to the rest of the team. I am not the most gifted but I like parkour so I am improving at a very honnest rate and I don t feel limited at all. One of the teacher looks 1.90m though so don't pay too much attention on that. Good luck bro.
