Excellent video ! A unique, out of many, Byzantine Churches in the City. This building represents one among the few extant examples of a Byzantine Church with domed Greek Cross plan. Simply astonishing.

How hypocritical is that they considered the saint francisco di assisi “drawing “, more valuable than the more ancient and elaborated artworks, , so they took the latin drawing to the museum. Thankfully, they left aline the masterpiece in its original position.

The St Francis fresco had partly fallen down and so was moved to preserve it. The Byzantine mosaics were more firmly in place

The Turks did take very good care of this buildings must say. The Turkish buildings in Greece were all destroyed and burned but the Turks dint do that,why?.

In Istanbul many of the largest churches were converted into mosques and therefore preserved. There aren't a lot of other churches across Turkey which survived though
