Bladder port issue is a wash; I utilize a chest holster rig for my Glock. Pack is small enough to ride high and tight enough to eliminate need for waistbelt. Therefore it is tucked. I employed this pack last fall deer hunting from the ground and on the move; performed flawlessly. Love it. By the by, a HydraPak 2L bladder hangs perfectly from the loop. And I own and utilize 5 additional Eberlestock packs. None better. From N. Ga.

The one situation where I can imagine the adjustable shoulder strap height coming in handy is if you're wearing a duty belt where you need to have the pack ride higher than normal in order to clear pouches on the back of your belt.

Glad they responded! And well, too! As for adjustability, a day pack for adults can translate to an overniter for youth, hence adjustability for shoulder strap growth is a must. Good job!

Update on the product, I have just received my order from Eberlestock direct from their website. My coyote brown pack does not have the waist belt attached. There is a velcro backing incase you do want to attach a separate larger waist belt to it. It is sold separately for $25 from their website.

Great video! I already ordered mine after your preview video. I've carried it to work, on the trail, and even 5 hours of flyfishing. I've had the waist belt tucked behind the padding since it arrived. For a pack this size with a thin belt I don't see any weight transfer benefits. The organization is great and the structured top pocket keeps the bag from collapsing in on itself. All and all a great product. Thanks for the highlighting.

I'm not sure how long they've been making this pack, but i believe this and the switchback design are copies of an old REI pack I have that was offerd about 8 years back. Still my favorite day/weekend flight pack and not a single sighn of wear in nearly 10 years... And boy has it been worn. Eberlestock has improved the back and shoulder padding slightly, and added an adjustable strap height. I also prefer the way in which the pack can unzip all the way down the front. I may purchase the switchback specifically for this feature. People call this a 1 day pack but I regularly carry 3 days worth of clothing in my REI. However I have traveling light down to a science. As a daypack, If I'm just hiking around on the trail or in the woods, I find that the pack is a bit large for my tastes and mailnly use it as a travel pack. Not that I ever do this, I like a daypack that when empty, I can compress down small enough to stuff in my pocket. I do regularly carry my actual goto daypack stuffed down into my larger thru pack and take it out for shorter explorations away from basecamp. To me a day pack should be as small, compressible and minimalist as possible. A simple thin, single layer, light duffle style pack with a drawstring top and highly compressible shoulder straps works best.

I know this is a year old, but WHAT COLOR IS THAT?! I''ve looked at dozens of colors, and with the jacket you're wearing, and color glitches, I just can't figure it out. Thanks!

Cheers Mate! But I would prefer it to be a bit larger as to specs of carry on aircraft luggage so that you could use it for travel as well. That’s just my opinion. All the rest which you have said is very thoughtful and needs to be considered too.

How well do you think this pack would hold up as a day pack for hunting? I am considering using It to haul in my climbing sticks and platform specifically. If I use the bottom molle to attach the sticks and the compression strap to hold the platform, do you think that is too much weight (~15lbs) for this small of a pack?

I’d like to see you review the Eberlestock Big Top. It looks like a great roll top pack and I haven’t seen anyone review one yet. It’s huge but could make a great winter bag.
@AirbrusherGameandArt5 жыл бұрын
I own the Big Top... for the weight it can carry, it really needs their thicker padded shoulder harness. You can't put it on this pack because the kidney pads are part of the harness. The stays go through the harness back and kidney pads so if you undo the Velcro, the harness just slides up and down to where you need it without coming off backpack. Outside of needing the thicker pads it is a lovely pack that you will overload lol.
@TheMachoGabacho5 жыл бұрын
Airbrusher Games and art I’m a big fan of roll top packs. I have a Granite Gear Crown, the older model, and it’s a perfect backpacking pack. I’d like to find a good pack with a similar design that can handle a little more weight and abuse for bushcrafting and taking my son out in the woods. Since I’ll have to carry his gear too I need something big. At least until he’s big enough to pull his own weight.
