Hello Pete thank you for the kind words If you haven't already when you get a chance , head on down to Santee for a day or two. Right now the bite is on there for the big cats on the lower Lake. Setting up in the diversionary canal next to log piles and log jam with herring is usually a good way to catch them. Go into the lower part of the lower Lake in the drop-off where the rocks signs are is also a good place Thanks for taking the time to watch our videos. let me know when you go and if I can head you in the right direction of other spots down there, let you know

Santee they use worm sinkers, they are less likely to get tangled in limbs and rocks on the bottom.

If no float is used between the hook and swivel, is that not just a Carolina rig?

Actually Moe, your correct basically I believe also that the Santee rig is just like a refined Carolina rig that you would used for bass fishing It's the same principle. The only difference is the use of float to keep the bait floating above brush and rocks. Thank you for checking out our videos come back and check again soon

I actually modified the rig ... main line to swivel, then 2 ounce weight, a sliding bobber and a 4/0 circle... on 50lb leader line less then 2 foot.... for Southern texas catfish

Yes we also use different revisions of the Santee Cooper rig. It depends on fish depth, speed of drift, wind speed and different options available on different lakes. Thanks for watching and commenting

Hey sir, my name is Mark Hall and I just got a kayak and I'm wanting to catch some big cats in big lakes and I was wondering if you could give me a few tips on how to find big cats in big lakes, the Lakes are Jordan and Sharon, I have caught a few 20pounders fishing from the bank but I have a fishing Kayak, any help would be greatly appreciated. Mark here is a follow-up reply from the other day. If I was going to fish on either of those lakes I would use the Santee Cooper rig. We have a video on it on the channel.. Use live or cut brim, shad or perch. Look for the catfish on flats around brush piles and point. Watch for fish suspended just off or close to the bottom. Also if fishing for large catfish around brush use at least 25 lbs. line. Never used a kayak Catfishing but just got one and looking forward to trying it. try putting a bead between your swivel and sinker to save the knot from weakening ...Tight lines!!!

+Max Hill Fishing I should of remembered that Max,and I did realize it half way through the video. Not many of the guides do that on Santee but we started to use the bead last year. Thanks for pointing that out. When we do the Live webinar on Santee fishing tips in a few weeks I will talk about that and credit your advice.

I started using glow-in-the-dark beads, and my catch rate went up. Catch All Tackle has great prices on them on eBay. 👍🏻

Yes sir it is basically a drifting rig but we also use it while anchoring down and still fishing.
