Yesterday was Ange's birthday and we took a Mog day off to celebrate! It's easy to get sucked into a project and not take a break from it - it was exactly what we needed! But we are back at it today and BIG things are coming soon..

I can't stand this whole new level of net nanny, where everyone things they have to enforce OH&S standards on every damn video. But god damn do those things ruin your day when they start letting loose. So yeah, I'd wear glasses lol.

8:20 @The OutFit, guys, there is a company in the UK that make acoustic blankets for engines. Sits directly on top and hangs down the back generally, allowing cool air to hit the front still, but, shielding the bulkhead from noise. They are called Noisekiller, part of NKGroup. Worth a look even if just for ideas - they have a lot of helpful advice. Cheers.

Happy Belated Birthday Ange!! That Car Builders system looks awesome! I will tell you, when I pulled the floor mats out of my US Army CUCV...it had that cotton fiber crap, which retains moisture, and I had to cut out and replace a lot of metal to fix my floor boards. Your project is coming along nicely and looking GOOD! Cheers!

2 things: 1: all bed-liners are simply Elastomeric paint and “part B” Hardener. You can save a ton by buying the paint and hardener at a big box store. When I buy mine, I’ll be buying paint from Behr. You can get spray guns like to one from Raptor Liner online too. Also, you can get whatever color you want; the paint can be colored just like any other paint. The price here in the US is like $150 for a gallon and a brand name or $150 for 6 gallons and a self-sourced mix. 2: when you paint the outside, use epoxy paint. It’s another part B hardened paint, and it’s damn near impenetrable. There’s a video by D.I.Y. Auto School here on YT about it. I think it has an old blue Chevy car in the thumbnail. Again, you can get the paint colored to your desire.

Love the build, inspired me to hit bid... picked up my MOG last week and knocked out the majority of the sound deadening already 😅 recommend widening the driver side foot well before you get too far.. just a thought! I took a template from the passenger side marked it out on the drivers side ready to cut and sheet.

I did both front , rear and cargo door on my Fj so far. And I can notice the difference straight the way as the back was noisy as hell while the front was quite as hell. I am onto the floor and wheel arc this coming week. Finally I am looking forward to a long distance driving in my Fj

Following your project here in Brazil. I am building a motorhome using a base 130 defender. I dream of a Unimog but here these cars are very rare and absurdly expensive, only the army has it and when they go up for auction they are more expensive than a new truck. Your service is getting very good. Here I also do everything with my own hands.

Thanks Eugenio for following along all the way from Brazil 😀 good luck with your project! Hope one day the prices decrease for you - in Australia they are definitely getting more and more expensive :/

Good stuff this is really cool! Warning though the dampening mat stuff can add a lot of weight fast and actually doesn't need to be put everywhere. Mostly on larger flat areas where metal can vibrate. Just a trick from performance road cars to save a bit of weight and material :)

Hey guys, not sure if anyone has mentioned it to you already, but I’ll say it anyway in case. Our trucks are sprayed with a foam underneath the cab to minimise heat mainly but also road noise. It’s cheap & effective & goes on thick. Can’t help you with the name of the product, but I know if you ring your nearest Kenworth dealer they should be able to help you with product name & possibly the product itself. It’s a common thing procedure done to trucks now so won’t be hard to find. Good luck either way!

I see you used some of the stage 1 on the inside of the engine hatch. The unimog is a tiltcab isn't it? Have you considered using some of the stage 1 on the underside of the cab, I know some people have done this on the US military LMTV and have had excellent results reducing the engine noise in the cab.
@TheOutFit

We want to upgrade possibly to a unimog someday soon too, have been living in a hiace full time for the past 3 years and really want a large 4x4 van/truck kinda thing. Keep up with the great content! Sorry to say the truth. This Material can be used for damping on huge metal sheets. For that you ned only to and a small pice in the middle of the sheet 30 % is enough. Totally fitting the backside of the Cabin makes no sense. On the backside and the roof you need foam. Try to get 50 kg/cubik m weight foam. You ca use youd Material also for Sound insulation on the Front to the engine than you must do a full cover. Very good is to use first a foam or a wool mat an on top your Material as Sandwich. The thickness of the Form should be a division of your highest noise frequenz lambda. Good is also this Sandwich from The outside in the engine . But than you must cover the cutting edges against spray water. And take care or Firefox retardent Materials there
