i was lucky enough to check my email 2 weeks ago and surprisingly i got a notification for the jeffsy core2 in stock and was able to purchase one. i mustve been a little late since it said "ship latest may 16". i'm just glad i was able to secure one before my size sold out the next day. i'm super excited as this is my first legit mtb. thank you for these videos.

The Jeffsy is a "quiver killer" bike, like most of the mid-travel 29ers like the Ibis Ripmo, Specialized Stumpy Evo and Giant Trance X. I've never ridden a Jeffsy, but I own a Ripmo and have demoed the Stumpy Evo and the Ripmo sits in a weird place, it feels like a trail bike on the climb and an absolute weapon on a tech climb, on flow trails it is fairly playful but is also very stable in the air, on the rough stuff the Ripmo feels like a full on enduro bike and is way faster through tech than you would expect a 147/160 bike to be, The Evo on the other hand, feels like a playful trail bike on everything, except climbs where it has the usual pronounced pedal bob that Stumpys have been known for for ages.

I completely agree that an Enduro bike is over-biked for me. I ride daily and try not to miss more than 3-5 days a month. Most of the rides are my local backyard trails that require a 2000ft climb. Yes some trails have some sections of chunky rock gardens but honestly that’s a small percentage. The bottom line is,it sounds appealing to have a sweet 150-160mm travel rig but for me I would really need to search and find trails that utilizes that much travel. Maybe if I was going to bike parks and hitting jumps or railing the steep knar I would think that I was getting my money’s worth from an Enduro rig.

When having two mountain bikes became an option for me, I decided to go with an moderately aggressive 29er trail bike (2020 Niner RIP 9 RDO upgraded to DHX2 Coil and 160mm airshaft up front) and a playful, yet fairly slack 27.5 hardtail (2020 Whyte 905). Awesome combo for the type of riding I do in the PNW, although I do not hit lift assisted parks much. If I did, I'd maybe want a third bike. Well, 4th if you count my existing gravel bike. lol.

I'd be really interested to see a comparison between a Jeffsy and a Ripmo as the two are very close in specs and intended use. As a Ripmo owner I know the Ibis has a lot of that enduro bike stability, but still has the nimble handling of a trail bike.

If i was 20 again and living on a ski resort the capra for sure. My Jeffsy Al is totally fine for me, and the new ones come with better and burlier forks and shocks so they should be great. At a 100kg I don´t feel the need for the extra travel or stiffness on the frame and the fork of the Capra, total overkill for the kind of riding I do. Anyway, both bikes look awesome.

Hey I know these bike are a little different now but I am split between these bikes. I’m just scared that I might get the Capra and it doesn’t pedal uphill at all and I’m scared that I’ll get the jeffsy and it won’t be enough to take to Snow Summit and Mammoth. So my question is does the Capra struggle on longer pedal days like 10 miles or more but then some days I’ll walk my bike and do some of the gnarlist trails down here in SD with guys on 170-180 mm enduro bikes with my 140 mm lol 😂 very great video but still split.
@TheOutsiderMTB

Yeah I hear you. I mean you do have to choose a priority. I’ve ridden the Capra on climbs and it’s ok, just not as pedal centric as the Jeffsy. If I had to choose I like the Capra because you’ll always have enough bike and great at the parks. But if you prioritize trail days the Jeffsy is a better fit.

I'm all about trail riding as i also live in the OC area and still don't have my full squish yet, but I'm in the market and starting to shop. should I go with a bike that has more travel because of weight, or should that not be a factor? losing weight off you is definitely the cheaper option that will typically give better results, unless you're already some fitness god with 0% body fat. Heavier bike also helps lose weight off you because it takes more watts to climb on it.

I lost like 19 pounds since last November. I find that actually my biking balance has improved since losing weight. Like downhills seem less wobbly and sketchy. Weird, maybe the weight distribution was like all over the place, fat hanging off the sides or something lol. Climbs are easier too now a bit.

Seems like the Jeffsy is more Jeffsy-ish, while the Capra appears to be more Capra-like. J/k nice review! Capra is "Like a horse" - the word Capra reminds me of like capricorn, a goat actually

Great video. Don’t know if you ever road the older Capra?? 27.5 170mm front 165mm rear. 13.5 kg. Light great travel. I’m guessing the jeffsy would be a closer match as I want to replace it and have to ride to the top off every hill? Apart from my two times a year bike park holiday? So confused there both great bikes just don’t know??? I’m from a DH back ground

That seems to be the thing that happens when you own a quiver killer bike like the Jeffsy or Ripmo. Half the time you want a light, short travel bike for slow tech and big XC days, then you want the big enduro bike for park days.

Hi. Im chosing between jeffsy and a capra. Now i ride a Scott genius 950 2020 M size and the bike is a little to small for me. I like my bike to be light and playful like jeffsy is. I'm 5'9 about 143 Ibs and i usialy go to bike parks a cuple times a year and i go on dh runs that are steep and rocky. How does jeffsy handle all the rocky and high copresion teerains because i am lenaing more tawords the jeffsy because, capra seems like a realy heavy bike and for now, i like lighter and more playful bikes?

What if I have a Jeffsy but also intend to start learning drops and jumps and could afford the Capra in addition? Not looking to do anything super gnarly, but would like to eventually go the bike parks in the mtns and enjoy more of the features properly. Should I learn on the Jeffsy and get the Capra later, or just get the Capra now and start learning on that?

You need to try the Capra Blaze. Honestly the majority of the difference is fox vs rockshox. After a long journey, starting out with a capra pro race on fox, my capra now has a zeb and a super deluxe and it’s nirvana. The fox stuff just sags too much and drains the life out of the capra platform. Trust me on this, capra blaze is shangri la. Ill never own a fox product again.

So basically what your saying is... you couldn’t figure out how to set up the fox suspension so therefore it’s terrible and rockshox is great?! YeA..... ok... they are both awesome when set up right.
@kene8571
@kene8571 3 жыл бұрын
@@mathewmccabe7175 nope not saying that at all. I know fox people want to believe that. I’ve had the 38, 2 versions of the 36 and the zeb. On the back, had the X2, the dpx2 and even the push 11.6. Ive had it set up by professionals, tuned it myself over countless hours, used shockwiz, you name it. I can 100% say that the zeb with super deluxe is objectively superior to any other suspension platform. I have the 11.6 for sale if you’d like to buy it.

The main thing I've heard with Grip 2 forks is you generally need to adjust them for the specific terrain you're riding, they are not set and forget like RockShox or DVO. The DVO Onyx SC I'm currently riding is the most set and forget fork I've ever ridden, doesn't matter what I'm riding, I literally never have to touch the dials it just works on everything once set to recommended settings for your weight.
@kene8571
@kene8571 3 жыл бұрын
@@mrvwbug4423 my fork was properly set up and adjusted for the terrain and obsessed over. It’s not the fork setup, fox is just not as good end of story. Fox bros always try to claim it just wasnt set up correctly. Fox worship is basically a cult at this point.

@@kene8571 I’ve had a bunch of bikes with rock Shox and a bunch of bikes with fox. They have both performed wonderfully when set up correctly. I wonder how Richie rude rides so well on such inferior product. All I’ve stated is both work well. You are the one that sounds like they have been drinking koolaide lol. Bottom line though, I’m glad you are stoked on your suspension. And I do have an 11 6 coming for my pivot switchblade, otherwise I would maybe take you up on your offer. Happy trails.
