Hi Gregory. Looks like you have found a water based gloss finish you are happy with, great. Looks nice. Bet it’s nice and smooth. Question is would you use that product on a project going over old solvent / oil based paint ? If so what are PPG saying is the specification? That be an interesting test of that product your running through your unit. Cheers , best wishes.

Great question Steven, I have been doing tests on different water based enamels over old enamels. I don't take any chances so all door frames and doors need the oil undercoat ( no sand) or sand and a good acrylic undercoat ,but the window frames can be done with a light sand and dust because they don't get any heavy usage. When you think about it in a normal home there can be 15 windows, so a bit of a saving if you chose to go that way. Its weird, some of the wb enamel sticks well over old enamel but others its hit and miss so I'm still recommending for 100% certainly to use an undercoat, not straight over.

the most useful vid of spray painting ever watched. just spray painted a new house(first time DIY). used a 209 normal tip with dulux aq enamel on doors and trims, they bled like hell. now a fflp 208 and a cleanshot valve are the next investment. thanks

Dulux aquanamel does not spray at all,its just a brush and roll paint. No matter what I tried I couldn't get it to spray properly.

Would be interesting to see how the sterigard or fast finish in high gloss compares to this. I notice dulux sell them both in a semi or full gloss wb enamel

I've used the steriguard gloss heaps of times, I think this pure performance is very similar but easier to spray finish.

Hi Greg I’ve been following your channel for years now , very informative great painter . I’ve been painting over 10 years now and switching over to all water based paints including gloss and semi gloss been somewhat tough but getting used to it . Do you prefer spraying your doors or rolling . I Still prefer rolling them just because of touch ups . if you spray them do you have preferred set up to prevent overspray onto the ceilings.Thanks for your content it’s been so helpful to me at least and I’m pretty sure to many more painters who viewed your videos. Keep up the good work mate and look after yourself.
@ThePa1nterhowto2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Davor for supporting the channel, I much prefer to roll my doors but the finish is rubbish, especially when i go back a couple of months later and see what's there. Spraying is a much better option, runs are my biggest problem. I am finding I can spray the doors without interfering to much with the ceiling finish. Maybe do the doors all in one room or specific walls so the cornice can be touched up easy.

Long time painter in Oregon.. aways enjoy your videos. Did you not get a plate put on your clavicle or what? I had some serious issues too from a badly broken collar bone from a motorbike wreck.

My problem with my shoulder was originally dislocated with multiple fractures and then they found the tears of three Rotator Cuff tendons, one was completely gone, so a massive tear was shortened and fitted elsewhere with screws. It's a long-term injury and the surgeon says because of the arthritis Ill need a new shoulder reco within ten years so basically I'm just taking it easy so I can hopefully get a better outcome long-term.

How does it go if brushed on? I can’t justify buying an airless sprayer. Would the Wagner Flexio sprayer or similar work if brushing doesn’t give a good finish?

Hi Greg, yet another great vid. I just bought a 2nd hand Wagner 3.21. I'm also going to get a cleanshot valve but have a couple of questions. In regards to using the 208 tip in this video, does the Wagner purple 208 tip fit in the cleanshot or do I have to use Graco tips. Also what colour filter were you using when spraying this. Cheers.
@ThePa1nterhowto2 жыл бұрын
The cleanshot is a separate item, your origional housing can be used on it. When using these small tips, always put a new red filter in it. All other times you can run a yellow filter. Your gonna love the 3.21,

Are there any brands of paint to avoid with ceiling, walls or trim paint? Are they all much the same? I’ll try and get this trim paint but I’m not sure which ceiling and wall paint to get

@@vignjevicalex I'm one year off retirement so yes I do get offered lots of those larger properties but to be honest I only take around 20% of the work that I'm offered. Hi mate. Is it ok to leave paint in a sprayer overnight or even a few days ? Thanks again
@ThePa1nterhowto2 жыл бұрын
Yes but it must be airtight, personally I put the handpiece in water and add a little bit of water over the top of the paint and several wet rags over the paint tin to keep it all moist. As long as you do that you can leave as long as you want

Hi guys, Some advice plz! I accidentally mixed 2.5L of Dulux Wash&Wear +Super Hide with about 5L of Dulux 1Step Prep. Can the paint still be used as a primer for doors or is it best to just use on walls instead.
@ThePa1nterhowto2 жыл бұрын
If the doors are new and you just want to undercoat before glossing , no problems but if its a repaint with old oil based, it won't be good enough. Treat it like a sealer undercoat now, not a primer.
